There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

Lions of Sabi Sands

Crazy times in Sabi right now! Rising tensions in the south between Gijimas and Nkhulus, PCM’s and Ndhzengas chasing each other around and a hotbed of activity around the west and north with a bunch of scattered nomads forming brief alliances and surprise interactions all over the place.

First NYM and Tumbela then they split and NYM joined Khanya who has previously been spotted with both his uncle Mohawk and dominating the SBDM. Then Mohawk leaves his three sons only to find his younger Nkuhuma son and now sharing kills with one of the SBDM who ousted him in the first place. And now remaining Southern Avoca shows up out of nowhere on a kill with Tumbela and Mhangeni Pride. Not to mention the drama up in Manyeleti with the Kambulas and Red Road.

I wish we got more updates on the Southern Pride. When the Gijimas first took them over, and allowed the two young'uns to remain, we got updates rather frequently, after that it seems to have slowed way down.

Jason Street used to do really great w providing sightings of them but he has now moved to Timbavati and we don’t get to see them as much. Hopefully we get more in the future

Encounter already discussed here, just adding the footage Savanna posted on their youtube channel (I assume the brave little that slapped Tumbela and scratched S.Avoca enters at 0:56, getting between them willingly):

So Interesting they are eating together as if they are family. The Plain Camp male lions must have not been with the Mahangenis. This reminds me of the Southern Matimba male lions. The Southern Matimba male lions when they were older would start eating with the Othowa lionesses and cubs. I think they were around the age of the Southern Avoca or a bit younger but I think they had fought the Southern Avoca male lions.
