Ximunghwe isn’t a young lioness and I can’t fathom she has many more attempts at raising litters left. The best way for this to resolve itself is for the Nkuhuma male and Skorro to finally leave the west. But it doesn’t seem likely in the near term. He still has that, regardless of how much land he owns. The only real evidence would have been the sighting of cubs. But sadly in the Ximhungwes case even if cubs were to exist, their chance of survival are low enough for them to simply have died before being seen. The cubs may have existed or not. "Daybreak on a crisp cool morning revealed the signs of a struggle during the night. On further investigation we discovered two lionesses guarding the carcass of a Blue Wildebeest, however there was something unusual about the scene, their mother, the adult female of the Southern Pride was nowhere to be found.
Guide and Tracker discussed her possible whereabouts, we knew she was denning somewhere and that she was suspected of having cubs, but it was yet to be confirmed. This got us thinking that maybe, just maybe she had gone off to get her young cubs so they could also feed on the carcass. We made our way to an area we reckoned she might move through, and that was where we stumbled upon her and her 3 healthy, beautiful cubs, slowly and cautiously moving towards the kill her daughters were guarding. Ximhungwe lioness responding to roars heard from the north. Not sure whom the roars were coming from at the moment.

Fantastic update….the Rebuild of the Southern Pride continues. 3 New mini Gijimas today amd hopefully more soon

This is especially in contrast to the older Ximhungwe Lioness who cannot seem to raise any viable young passed the denning stage since her daughter was killed. No stability = no surviving offspring. Males have to stick around and defend their territory all the time. This coming and going by the PC Males might spell disaster for the pride. Haven't heard any news about cubs for the Mangheni Pride. Looking out for any pictures as confirmation. Maybe the Mangheni's are not sold on the PCs because they keep leaving for other territories for a long stretch of time??? They are mating all over the place with 3 different prides now instead of staying put with the larger Mangheni Pride. One male is too dominant over the other, by far. He's too aggressive. Plus, this friction causes them to separate for days on end.
@Cath2020 1/5 Mangheni is denning, let's see if she can protect the cubs until they are old enough to be introduced.
As for Ximhungwe, indeed, she's old and even if PCM were to kill NK and Tumbela ( which doesn't seem it will happen any time soon ) there's always new nomads coming and going like Kambulas and Talamatis, and PCM don't are unable to protect all their territories and prides. We can end up seeing a scenario where this pride fails to raise any cubs until a new coalition takes over the Western Sector and pushes PCM back to Singita, or even takes over everything ( assuming it has the numbers to protect both the Western Sector and Singita like Mapogos, Selatis and Majingilanes did back in the day. |
