I don't have an IG account, when was this taken? Was concerned about the PC boys, and Nhenha and Nkuhuma after their encounter with Limper, so these recent updates are troubling.
Leaving the area is more risky for him as a single male. With him around, the intruders will be more cautious.
Southern and Menhgeni females chose to fake mate with PC, Othawa may do the same thing or breakaway to stay with PC.
The cubs are almost 1.5 years. At least some of them can well survive with help of 1-2 females.
Their situation is still better than Southern, Menghni and Kambulas with B-cubs.

Not sure I would rush to those conclusions just yet.
The PCMs have NOT Actively targeted Othowas.
It was Skorro who was seen inside Singita so it was he who intruded on The PCMs territory and likely brought the pride with him closer to danger. Not that the PCMs went looking for Othowas.
Just like the last skirmish, it could just dissipate and everyone goes back to their own areas without more conflict.
Or maybe not. remains to be seen how these dynamics shift and change going forward.
So far this is only the second or so incident and they only lost one cub.. Which is a far cry from the conflicts earlier in the east and south of the reserve. If this trend continues most of the cubs should make it to adulthood.
I don't think the other coalitions are actively targeting the pride either. They have other things on their mind right now. But a lone rival male out there is not something they can just ignore for the safety of their prides. So if they find him, they will go after him.

They lost one of the current 5 cubs or are you talking about some older clash?

Shouldn't be better for this guy to remain close to the pride? Whatever coalition attacks him it will be 2v1, if he's with the pride, 2 females can help him chase the enemies away while the third one hides the cubs. Sure, it's a hell out of a task, but better than either him or the pride getting attacked while alone.
Or maybe he isn't aware that he's facing 2 different coalitions and believes PC males and Nhenha-Nkuhuma are together and therefore realized it's meaningless to opposite them?
From what I understand, males in these types of situation can benefit from staying close to the pride, other males managed to hold to their positions for a long time by doing that in the past. It's borderline impossible when they are heavily outnumbered, but in this case it's "only" 2v1 and he's at his prime, he should stay close to the females and try to hold it until his cubs are old enough to further his bloodline.
