There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

Timbavati male.
He did partnered up with the Black dam male and Marvin.
So the black dam male once was part of a coalition of three males.
The Timbavati male came into Thornybush from Timbavati whilst still fenced in, Combretum farm area. It was around 2014 and he had a bad limp...left back leg. He partenered with Black Dam male for a year, but his condition eventually deteriorated so much that he became a loner again around 2016. He death was confirmed to have been from a tick-borne desease, Babeliosis and not TB & an old injury.

Note: the skull of Ring (BDM Father) is still in Thornybush and measures as one of the biggest skulls ever.

Are you sure? Is there some raport of interaction between Trilogy males and Hercules pride? Trilogy males around 2014 Timbavati. They were in the regions in which there were reports from.

The Trilogy males took over the Ross pride from the old Giraffe/Ross males, as well as the breakaway Ross pride aka Hercules pride in mid 2014.

Another fabulous start to the day this morning! Our guests were treated to this close up moment with Socha, who then joined up with 3 of the River pride females and the 4 eldest cubs

With such a large pride (currently numbering 20 lions!) it isn't unusual for them to separate occasionally - especially as some of the cubs are still very small. Hopefully Hosi is busy playing dad to the little ones somewhere nearby

These are the two boys said to have been chased recently by the Mbiris. Good looking pair. They may cause trouble if they drift southward.

In June 2018 the dominant western Pride male known as Skye was hunted and killed with permission from the Mpumalunga Parks and Tourism Authority. The Ingwelala Reserve Board was informed that permission had been granted for an American tourist to hunt one male lion in the adjacent Umbabat Reserve, and did their best to ensure that Skye wasn't killed, since he was the dominant male of the Western Pride, but MPTA sent the hunting outfit a photo of one of the two Eastern males (also known as Machimba males) mistakenly thinking it was Skye, and so the hunters went ahead and killed Skye. Following his death, there was a huge uproar in the media in South Africa and hopefully these incidents are on the decline. Images by Chad Cocking in Motswari, 2016.
