There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

A few afternoons ago we were sitting with the Western Pride who were enjoying their afternoon rest then, suddenly, a breeding herd of elephants showed up on the scene. The lions had no choice but to scamper off in the opposite direction as one of the elephant cows picked up on their presence and set off after the lions to make sure they posed no threat to her family

Recently the @blackdampride of lions have been unpredictable in their movements and distribution on the reserve. This has created a bit of a vacuum in their historical range, which was jumped on by members of the Monwana pride who ventured far south out of their comfort zone because of pressure from the Mapoza and Xikukutsu males pressing to complete a total pride and territory takeover of the Monwana Pride. We are open again and waiting for you all to come share in specialwildlife photographic safaris here at @royalmalewane in South Africa.

A young#blackdam male #lion seen at the end of 2014 just after he took over the #monwanapride territory in the north of the reserve here @royalmalewane in South Africa. He was recently killed by his two sons after suffering a fatal injury during a buffalo hunt, that weakened him enough to lose his final battle for his continued dominance. He was a local and international legend, being seen and photographed by thousands of people on their photographic #safaris

To my eye it is actually Timbavati male on the picture, not Black Dam male.

That makes two of us Tino, and not because of my Mod bias, I was saying the exact same thing before I became a Mod, one of the finest communities on the Internet.
