Especially a strong male with a character such as the Kruger male.

I think that is what they need a male lion with a strong character such as the Kruger Male that will push the 2 to have more confidence to takeover a pride.

@Potato there’s 6 Monwanas remember, 4 who come into Sabi Sands, then the oldest who stayed in Timbavati, and the one who stayed with Monwana Pride. Youngster who was with Nkuhumas hasn’t left them as far as I know.

Really think that his confidence have really taken a hit since he have gotten the limp even when he is in good condition from time to time he is really submissive to the Nkuhuma females but who knows what might happen to him.

I agree to your point with the Styx Male he is really showing a dominant trait at an early age and I think meeting K12 really help him to be more dominant as he is thinking that K12 is for him to take.

That youngster reminds me of Wonky Eye, he just sort of falls in with whomever he comes across, he hung around for an extended period with the Manghenis too, which was a bit surprising, given their aggressive nature. He seems just as affable as well, as WE, given the demeanor of those he has spent time around.

Quite the history that Nkuhuma Pride has, in accepting young males in amongst the pride.

I'll wait for him to display any signs of strenght and dominance before assuming he could match the boldness and will of the Kruger male.
Smaller SBDM has been doing the same thing for more than a year now bro.

True, i forgot those, they surely are really good options as they rise to their early years of adult males, well noted.

Nowdays however in Sabi Sands it rather won't be enough to do the job so from that point of view it make perfect sense to add another member into coalition.
I never said that unrelated males join up only in duos, i mean that it is more likely.
I think its factual that two unrelated males are more likely to make up a small coalition than multiple unrelated males. And although i think its more likely for Kruger to join other solo male, i would surely like it better for him to form a bigger coalition with other unrelated males such as Talamati/Nkuhuma or Avoca/SBDM, or all together haha.
Making up a big coalition similar to DeLaporte would definitly increase their chances to become territorial.

Lions dont go plotting longterm plans for takeovers so its not like they put up an add for coalitionparners once they find themselves outnumbered.

Its just much easier to join with another male that is also lonely and desperate than with an established coalition where both members already have eachother for help and companionship.

Hi. Interesting topic. For example three male lions older bros leave lioness mother. Around are two male lions but stronger older male lions maybe even three brothers just two are around. In another area are four to five male lions and they know the younger male lions are younger and are three.

Male young lion go back for three younger brothers, nephews.

Male lions are six.

Except that these big coalitions of random unrelated adult males dont work, as Delaportes didnt either, on first obstacle, they crumbled.

Mpondos where subs went they link, and went thru nomadic phase together, thats quite different then 4-5 adult males linking together.

This goes for duo coalitions aswell, older the members who link, or bigger the age gap, least likely they will be successful.

As duos who link earlier, have big advantage in growing up and learning together in crucial times for male lion, which is age in between 3-5 yrs, after they are expelled from security of the pride and thrown into nomadic phase.

Most successful unrelated coalitions/duos linked during those times.

So even if all those nomads link with each others, they would have no teamplay and confidence in each others when a duo like lets say PCMs or Ndhzengas attack them.

Agree with all said about KM joining another duo, especially Khanya + NK and the challenges of seeing that happening. He’s very much a bully, and I mean he’s had to be, but it’s hard seeing NK accept him. There is a scenario I could imagine where a fight breaks out between the three males, and Khanya + NK give him a lil beating, but eventually NK leaves anyway not wanting to compete.

Hi. I do not know how many recent sightings there have been of Styxt male lion and Kambula lioness, but is it strange Kambula lioness has not had any cubs; being with Ndhzenga male lion and Styxt young male lion?

Often, when a lone female is living a stressful solo life, it can take an extended amount of time for her to come into season. Sometimes not happening until she either has some added stability and security, or has become much more accustomed to her solo lifestyle.

Hi. Yes Kambula lioness is six years of age? I see her with young Styxt male lion and they move around like nomadic male lion or lions in general. It looks different. If she was with a sister things maybe different; if Kambula lioness was with a sister she may get attention of more male lions, but I think what happen is she bonded with young Styxt male lion as a lone lioness. Kambula lioness like being with Styxt young male lion.

I wonder if this is good or bad. They have eachother, but Kambula lioness if alone maybe could find another group of lionesses or young lionesses alone. Also young Styxt male lion could be alone also may find a young alone friend partner bro.

Wonder if is bad. Both will get older, but alone if stronger male lions come; if any cubs male lions will hurt them. Styxt male lion seems like a strong male lion. He maybe a lion that looks like he might be alone; after being with Kambula he may act more like stronger male lions.

One thing to consider - the Styxt male with K12 opens or maybe closes possibilities.  It is possible having a lone female with him might attract others males who will stay along for the ride.  But I agree with most I see Styx being territorial soon and honestly he has a lot of confidence or he is really stupid.  That duo to me is very interesting -  I hope they stay in or near Sabi Sands so we can see how it all plays out.  I do think K12 could be a bonus for him and I think she has given him confidence.  This duo is why I love the lions just an interesting side story that I have a feeling will be very interesting going forward.

So I have a question so this black dam male that left his brother behind I believe he’s the oldest of the 6 and is it possible that he went back to thornybush to look for his other brothers for help maybe since he has returned to sabi sands with another male I believe they’ve been here for a few weeks now right?
