So, given his brother has moved north, into the same general area of the NBDMs, what do we call him now? He is no longer a SBDM, as he's moved north, but he also hasn't joined with his northern brethren, and in my guess it is doubtful he ever will.

Makes it difficult as one of the NBDm also likes to go off on his own so u can’t necessarily call him the solo BDM. I know them BDMs have been given names but I don’t think that’s official. Me personally, I’d just refer to him as the younger BDM, assuming he is indeed younger than all 4 of his northern brothers, which I believe he is. As long as he stays quite a distance from his other brother in Sabi Sands, it wouldn’t cause any confusion.

Still find it really bizarre what happened with those two Black Dam Males, particularly from the healthier brothers perspective. Now he’s wandering around Timbavati on his own whilst his brother in Sabi Sands following Mohawk and the Nkuhumas around. If anything the male left behind in Sabi Sands has done better out of the situation than his brother, at least for now anyway.

I think he was just trying to survive. His brother was not good. His brother could not move. He had to hunt, and lions are caring.

Actually as we use the SBD(M) abbreviation anyway, Northern SBDM would not sound that bizarre anyway Grin  NSBDM for "short" :) And even Not Southern Black Dam male would have the same abbreviation :)

Southern Pride fleeing the roars of 2 male lions that were chased off by 1/2 Gijima male:

2 Nkhulus chased by 1 Gijima

2 Nkhulu males (Snip Tail & Smudge) invaded Gijima's territory but were chased out by the mighty blonde Gijima

"While driving through the southern section of our reserve, we had an unexpected and exciting encounter. We heard lions roaring and later found tracks of two male lions leaving our reserve. Just when we thought we had missed our chance to see them, we heard more roaring, this time much closer. We followed the sound and came across a Gijima male, hot on the trails of two rival males who had entered their territory. The Gijima male seemed focused on pushing out the intruders to protect his females and cubs.

Continuing our safari, we were pleasantly surprised to spot the Southern Pride running deeper into our reserve, possibly in response to the unfamiliar male lions' roars. We followed them as they moved further away, occasionally looking back to ensure they were not being followed.

The ever-changing dynamics of lion behaviour makes it unclear what will unfold. Will the Gijima males be able to defend their territory and keep their kingdom safe?"
