We found the Northern Avoca male and this big boy known as the Talamati young male fast asleep as lions do at a waterhole. Our ranger persuaded us to wait it out as they were likely to move in the golden light and we patiently waited an hour and a half to get these type of shots at Mala Mala,South Africa last week.

Singita Sabi Sands October update

Lions have certainly been a hot topic this month. The Mhangene Pride now consists of five adult lionesses and two very young cubs (three or four weeks of age). The one-year-old lioness is presumed dead after Johan discovered a hyena feeding on a lioness carcass, the size of the head matched that of a sub-adult lioness.
One of the Plains Camp lions was seen mating with the youngest Mhangene female. If successful this will be her first litter. The pride has been seen frequently in the south where new grasses are growing after a controlled burn, which in turn has attracted large numbers of grazers.
The Nkuhuma lioness and her two cubs of about 11 months are doing well too. However, there is growing concern over the fact that the other lioness has not been seen for quite some time. Let us hope she is simply focused on raising her litter of cubs.

Also more about Mhangeni pride in the full report there:

“ A morning of Lions!

In another interesting turn of events, the two Birmingham males have returned to the west and were found in the company of the two Ximungwe females. However, the 4 lions were found only 1km away from the two Plains Camp Males.. going to be an interesting night.. ”

Thats bad news. Lets hope the PC males get rid of them soon again so the area can get some stability.

The Ximungwes are constantly switching between spending time with Nhena & NK male and Skorro Jr. Wonder what will they do once Ximungwe female gives birth

Thats what I am worried for aswell. Aslong coalitions keep switching like this. Raising cubs may be nearly impossible in western sector.

I just uploaded some new photos in the Birmingham Male thread of Nhena and NKM. Although the photos are not zoomed in on the eye but it looks like it's healing really well. The eye looks much better than it does in the above photos.
