They better stop soon. Or their story for us may end as one of the many groups that disapeared in Kruger.

Nhenha is not close to his coalition partner. Now, if he contact calls, wouldn’t it be risky considering the fact that he is not in his territory? Just interested to know how they would link up again in a territory that is not their.

Its kinda worrying if the two split at all. But for now we have little info to even know for sure they split. That one ranger didnt see Nym does not mean he wasnt laying down out of sight somewhere. Lions dont spend time together all the time.

Contact calling would depend on how far away the Nwaswitshakas are. If their roars are faint and distant. Nhenha can safely contact call as those dont carry as far. Though he may do so regardless if he believes the two can join up and flee fast enough.

But most likely he will also try to track him down on scent etc.

Yea, Ranger not seeing him doesn’t mean he is not closeby.  One of the problems when getting chased out is they get separated. The young Gijima male comes to mind, its disappeared/separated for good.Options

So they showed up in the West, killed 2 old females that would be extremely helpful to raise the 5 Othawa cubs, ousted the lone Tumbela male, and ran off the first sign of an actual coalition of 2?

I know it's all natural behavior, but still, it's sad that Nhenha's return as a dominant male ended up catastrophic for everybody.

Was there any evidence that Nhena and NK male indicating they killed the two Othawa females? any footage or witnesses? It almost sounds more likely that the PC males did since they killed the sub adult male? From all evidence we have access to like recent footage of PC males chasing NK male and Nhena is it more like the PC males are responsible? Anytime we see footage of Nhena and NK male there's nothing to show they're being aggressive. The only footage I'm aware of with Nhena and NK male near Othawa's is the Othawas  chased both of them away yet now we hear stories of Nhena and NK killing both Othawa females. Genuine question since it's the PC Males always being aggressive and not Nhena and NK male.

As far as I've read nobody 100% knows. It could very well have been the Plains Camp Boys who did it. Truth is well never know for sure.  No closure!

Its been confirmed on those reports that they had encounter with Nhenha and NK.

PC males where not in the area then and Nhenha/NK where territorial males in the western sector.

There is no reason to believe that the PC males were involved purely because they happen to have that reputation. The Birmingham's both were closer and had motive.

The Birmingham boys were clearly avoiding fighting more equal fights such as the Avocas. But have shown to have no issue taking on single young male lions such as Nguvu. So that they took on the weaker Skorro and the Othawa pride but abandoned their territory under PC males pressure kind of fits with what we saw of them in the past.

The reason why they fled from the Othowas in the past may be due to Skorro. They likely dont want to risk fighting the pride and Skorro at the same time. So they chased him off when he visited the Ximhungwes early august and then used his absence to attack the pride.

I think ultimately this whole year can be summed up with "The Nwas got horny and made it everyone's problem."

Nhenha/Tinyo and Nhenha/NK should not be associated as the same coalitions, as they are not.

Dont think that was the case, its more so that they lacked confidence at the beginning, as they where new coalition, so they needed time, even to challenge 1 male.

Well yea, its a chain reaction, but in the end, even without Nhenha/NK, Tumbelas would lost western sector to PC males.
