There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

Rangers Report August 2012 - Leopard Hills Private Game Reserve

Selati Coalition

*This image is copyright of its original author

"The boys are learning all about life as the dominant force in the Western Sabi Sand! Their emergence and coming of age has thoroughly entertained our guests this month. Most of this has happened in close proximity to Leopard Hills.

So what goes through the mind of a Coalition member as winter draws to a close?

Look for lionesses in oestrus : Fight with brothers over a receptive lioness : Mate with lioness : Get a slap in the face from a lioness!"

*This image is copyright of its original author

"Realise that belly is empty and make buddies with brothers again : Go look for buffalo with brothers!
: Catch buffalo together then fight over buffalo with brothers!"

*This image is copyright of its original author

"Lie next to buffalo carcass with full belly and chase off hyaenas and vultures. Realise this is a futile exercise and leave skin and bones for scavengers."

He was looking beautiful. It is just strange how they disappeared. They were four young male lions. There was 2 Talamatie young male lions and two southern male lions their cousins. One was said to be by the Charleston male lions and one from the four ways, but maybe it wasn’t a son of the four ways but of the Toulon male lions. It is strange how they disappeared.

Just as we after 5 yrs of nothing found out that Mhangeni and Talamati survived and where territorial in Kruger, south of Pretoriuskop, same scenario might played out with these guys, as they were last seen at Pretoriuskop.

I really hope thats the case and we can see them sooner or later, would be great.

They would be around 9-10 at this point, being 4+ years without a single sighting it gets harder to believe.
But Mhangeni has proven we shouldnt count out lions in Kruger, especially in areas like those.

He was seen with his sisters in Tintswalo around 2017.
The girls made it back into Sabi Sand and one remains alive carrying the Ximhungwe's pride legacy. Unfortunately the young male never showed up again and vanished just like his younger brothers would later do.
