I’d like to shared what I’ve learned about this pride recently the 9 talamati subadults from 2019 belong to the matimba daughter silver eye and silver eyes sister as the selati girls where only 3 years old and didn’t give birth too any of them (I was unaware of that lol) but the 4 remaining msuthu females are two pair of littermates belonging too silver eye and the matimba talamti female silver eyes sister only had khanya as her daughter was killed by the plains camp males

Tysm! Its crazy how things turned out in just a couple of years, you had a pride doing so fine and seems stable, than it came S8, lionesses started dying and the rest is history, now we have 4 young lionesses and none of the "old" ones besides them, a different name ( for me it still doesnt make sense for the original pride name change and not the breakaway)
Besides being young they are doing very very good in their new region
For the Selati daughter, she went from having 2 sisters and a strong pride male, having cubs and subs to nothing in a matter of a year or so, I hope she can atleast try to rebuild her pride and keep the Talamati and her blood out there wich would be more than deserved

Yeah I thought the same thing but after I thought about it even if she isn’t able to rebuild her pride the name talamati may fade but their bloodline will likely never… same with the Sparta pride they’ve been gone awhile now but their bloodline is in basically over half of sabi sands

Just had a thought and I think it's best placed in here for now, given the two examples that I'm going to use. As I'm pretty sure most of us are aware that the chance significantly increases for there to be something wrong with a baby, whatever that may be, when women give birth late 30s compared to when they are younger. The exact scientific reasoning for this, I can't specify but was wondering if this could happen in lions too. Take Dzwihala and Khanya for example, if Khanya was confirmed to be sired from one of the matriarchs of Talamati Pride, well past her best years, compared to Dzwihala being sired by a much younger female, maybe this could be a reason why they turned out quite different. Ofcourse nothing is wrong with Khanya, he just lacks that robust size Dzwihala had. Perhaps there is something to this theory tho, would Khanya have become a bigger male if he was too sired by a younger female, with a better developed mane at this stage of his life or would it make little to no difference at all. Obviously a lot of that can come down to genetics too.

I think the best way to prove this theory would be by comparing litters of the same mothers with quite an age difference between them, which is both impossible, as it's not like we can just stack them next to each other to see the difference, and still wouldn't be 100% telling in how true it may be. Anyways, just a thought.

Bigger Talamati was just "lucky" to be born with better genes for size, I doubt the age of the mother matters at all.

PCM are littermates and one has a bigger mane, with a bulkier body.

Just random genetics.

Interesting line of tought
So I know its far from lions, but it could have the same principals or reasons for it to be but
I own racing pidgeons, where theres a giant need for the animals to be elite not only health wise but genetic wise
And when dealing with the reproduction lote, I tend to see as the years go by that the quality of pidgeons "sired" ( I dont have a strong English vocabulary) by both females and males as the years go by tend to decline
For example it would be alot more frequent that a female in her prime , lets say 6 years old would generate descendants who would win alot more prizes and throphies than their brothers and sisters ( from same father and Mother ) that were born when their Mother was 10/11... Years old
Obviously its not a general rule and there could be some variations in different individuals, but most of the time the quality of descendants tend to decline as the years go by
One thing that I saw it helped with that decline was giving an young or in prime male to that female, and it seems to work quite well
If we reverse roles there seems to be not that much of a differance
My theory is that as the years go by the ability/strengh to generate individuals at their full genetic potential decline maybe due to quality of the reproductive organs of the female or maybe her overall health
I know I AM almost comparing lions to pidgeons but biologic wise there could be a relation maybe

Khanya was just younger and I thought he had TB or something he was always skinny while his brother was always a tank khanya was the one who would always get “attacked” and show up a bit injured

Have there been any sightings of Tiyelele? Last I recall was her being up north, around the border of SS and Manyeleti.

Honestly I think it was just that he was older and khanya had a few health issues when he went nomadic with his brother he would get beat up a lot and I thought he had TB at one point but I think he just wasn’t getting as much food at the time plus he was younger

I always thought why young talamtie male lion went on his own. I always wonder why some male lions leave on their own. young talamtie male lion was with Mohawk and young nukuuma male lions; would. I thought he might of stayed he may have been with Mohawk and Nukhuma male lions. Young talamatie male lion would leave even older Talamatie male lion. I always thought older Talamatie male lion was closer to talamatie lionesses.

Yeah it would’ve been really cool if he would’ve stayed with the nkuhumas but just off memory the bigger talamati male went nomadic first and the smaller brother went nomadic after but as for who was closer to the lionesses I have no idea but khanya doesn’t have any sisters (littermates) The bigger boy who disappeared he did have siblings
