There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

Gull I took at the wild beach.  It's young gull, maybe that's why it is not so brave with waves Wink

The newly discovered giant, prehistoric parrot species from New Zealand, that is the "Hercules parrot" (Heracles inexpectatus, nickname 'Squawkzilla'), was apparently cannibalistic, do see this: https://wildfact.com/forum/topic-animal-...2#pid89362

I am not expert in birds and cannot find the source of this photo. Thus unable to precise the bird specy what it is about, as well as the location. Just saying that birds of prey are often ruthless ennemies of snakes whether they are venomous or not.

Geo Safari: " California Condors always have a case of resting bird face, but don’t let this angry pout fool you. ? Condors are social birds that form cliques around carcasses, bathing spots, and roosts. They communicate with each other using body language! ".

Beautiful photo... I confess knowing it's an African bird, but nothing more.

Daniel Rosengren: " This is a B. rex! That's right, the scientific name of this bird is Balaeniceps rex and it is the T. rex of the avian world. The common name is Shoebill and it is a giant among birds. Standing up to 140 cm tall it is an impressive sight. The bill is ginormous, about as large as a human shoe and has the largest circumference among bird bills in the world.
The shoebill hunts by standing still as a statue and lungeing itself over a fish that comes to the surface. It has even been observed taking ducks. There is even a report of one taking a baby antelope (Lechwe). "

Howard Cleveland: " Nothing like a bit of Elephant spine in the afternoon. Not be be confused with the tail of a three metre crocodile. An old bull ele died in the river at Letaba a while back and a week of eating was ahead for every creature you could imagine that could crawl through or fly across water. Even the gorgeous Marabou storks. "
