That also sorts the dates a bit more as I guess she was seen but not reported.

We have been worried about her trying to join the core pride again while the PCmales were present for a while now.
So even without the reputation it wouldnt surprise me if they did attack her.

Such a pity though. The pride fought so hard to keep her alive.

So when was the picture of her taken then? I thought that was after the 29th?

No, last images of her seen alive was in mid October.  After that we only received words saying she had separated from the main Pride and was with the new mother.   But that was sketchy at best, ,,as we know new mothers don’t tolerate other lions near new cubs.

Thank you for replying. That is so sad, I was hopeful.

They probably got pestered by fans still in denial about it and just tossed out confirmed to be done with it. I heard they have been a pain to them again lately.

That being said. I have very little reason to believe the PCmales didnt kill the sub.

Does that mean the Othawa Male's bloodline is now extinct? Or is there some sub adult out there I might have missed?

Yes.  His legacy ended with her loss.

OM sired 11 cubs.   None survived.

OMG...
Thats so sad.
I thought one subadults girl (of 2019 batch) was still alive.
So after " unfortunate Manghenis 12" we have " unfortunate 11"

The last of his offspring disappeared a month ago and is suspected to have been killed by the PCM.  Sad

I think most of the cubs were slowly picked off over the years though. Aldo his death doomed a large portion of them.
So not exactly a Mhangeni 12 situation. But rather just cubs having the bad luck of being burn under the protection of a male that wasnt exactly up to the job yet.

Very very different circumstances albeit same results.

Three of the cubs were killed by the N’waswitshaka in a skirmish while OM was still alive.   8 cubs were alive at the time he died but within the first 5 weeks of his death, they had been reduced to 4. Then two, then one.

Wow, slow down a bit.

Duty of raising cubs are not on territorial males.

Except encounter with Ndhzengas, in which 2-3 cubs i believe went missing, there is no other report or info that any of their cubs was lost due to OM's incompentence to defend his territory.

Even in Ndhzenga males encounter, it was 1 vs 4, there is no male who can best 4 males, so thats not his fault either.

Except that encounter, OM territory was clear, and no male or coalition challenged him for his territory for whole his time as territorial male.

So you blaming OM for losing cubs is false.

Problem with Mhangenis is that they are roaming too much, even under OM,as territorial pride, their routes where from western sector and all the way to Sabi Sabi, tempo which small cubs, can hardly follow.
