Hello All,

Certain sites, like Instagram for instance, often put a time limit on the images shared from their sites. Unfortunately, we have no control over this. The pic you replied to, I can no longer see it either.

I’ve noticed this…what’s strange is that it seems random.   I think moving fwd I’m gonna do both.   Put the original IG post but maybe backup w images also.

That would be great! A smidge extra effort for the poster, but the end result is if/when the pics disappear, folks can still click the link to go to the original images.

For a few days now, I’ve received a few messages from others that have been growing concerned that the OM sub adult had not been seen in a few weeks.

The more recent messages say that someone relayed seeing hyenas on a lion carcass in Singita.

I read things like this often. I don’t like to share until I hear from several sources or at times, when I feel compelled due to my strong belief it’s likely true.

I’m sharing the information just to be transparent…of what I’m hearing. But also that it isn’t confirmed or maybe even official.

As you know sometimes we never really get these things officially confirmed but they become evident and true. Sometimes they’re not true.

Thats very worrying.

Especially if the hyena carcas report is recent. Its more likely a different lion.

Just re-sharing information from a post this morning from the Admin of the Facebook Othowa Pride  group:

Just a fair warning.   If you don’t follow lions on FB, the PCMs are blamed for everything there.  So please take all of this wit a pinch of salt.  I’m just sharing as it was posted.   I can’t verify everything is accurate or not.

“Update...

Princess OM, daughter of the Othawa Male, granddaughter of the Majingilanes and great-granddaughter of the Mapogos❣️???

I received many messages this morning regarding the young sub adult...

It has been said that she was killed on October 28 in Singita by the PCMS & hyenas finished her remains.

I am trying to confirm as a ranger/guide's name was not mentioned but with all the messages coming in sadly I believe she is gone ?

"The tour guide sorted out some information and gave me the final conclusion. The killing time should be between the 22nd and the 29th. The murderer/hand corpse/body was eaten by hyenas. After birth, he started wandering and walked so far and failed to persist until the end. Unfortunately, the recent bad. There’s so much news, I don’t know what to say anymore"

I guess thats going to be as much of a confirmation as we can get. Unless we are going to wait till several months has lapsed without sighting.
That also sorts the dates a bit more as I guess she was seen but not reported.

We have been worried about her trying to join the core pride again while the PCmales were present for a while now.
So even without the reputation it wouldnt surprise me if they did attack her.

Such a pity though. The pride fought so hard to keep her alive.

So when was the picture of her taken then? I thought that was after the 29th?

No, last images of her seen alive was in mid October.  After that we only received words saying she had separated from the main Pride and was with the new mother.   But that was sketchy at best, ,,as we know new mothers don’t tolerate other lions near new cubs.
