Someone on fb who follows them closely said that the Mother of the surviving Sub Adult is with the Tsalala female. But that is not true. OM's daughter lost her Mother months ago & is presumed dead.

NP….that is correct :)

Maybe they wish to keep her safe from any males who wish to take over the core pride. So she took her to keep her safe?  Or maybe she was taking her to go & look for her Mother?
A sub adult female at only 1.6.years old would likely make contact calls often to reunite with her Mother. This would also alert other unwanted guests to their presence.
However, she did lose her Mother ages ago so that theory does not hold much weight nor sense.
They may reunite after their current separation. Let's hope for the best. The West is a crazy place recently

So I gave up trying to figure out these Mhangeni girls a long time ago lol.

They always beat to their own drum and defy most predictions of lion behaviors.

If I were to wager, it may be just a temporary separation….if it isn’t it may be a sign that these younger three are finally ready to mate and their leader is taking the sub away (to what will become a likely breakaway).

The sub needs about another 8 months or so to be self sustaining and should be joining in on hunts in about 4-6 months from now.

Hello,

So there are three older lionesses, from the original four? Then the two younger lionesses from the 12cubs? And the Othawa sub adult? There is one older lioness with the Tsalala princess. So who is missing? One of the young lionesses from the 12cubs?

The Missing Lioness (now presumed dead) is one of the three Mapogo daughters that is also the mother of the OM Sub Adult. The Pride at the moment is split in three groups:

Group 1 = Tinya, and the Two Mhangeni 12 sisters
Group 2 = One Mapogo Daughter alone with the sub adult.
Group 3 = The third Mapogo daughter is with Tsalala.

So there are only two of the original 4 Mhangeni alive today.

Thank you! Group three is good the Tsalala lioness. Was there something that happened causing the split? Hopefully group 1 and 2 get back together.

The video posted in post #156, reports that a clash with the PC males caused them to split.

I still find group 3 to be so incredible. While i am grateful that the 3rd Mapogo daughter Mangheni has adopted the Tsalala young female, i still just do not comprehend her motivation for doing so. Does anyone have any insight on this? Apologies if this has been addressed already.

She was away from the pride as she was mating with PC males, after mating was done, she was not able to relocate the pride immiditately, as they move a lot, she bumped into Tsalala female and thats how it started.

Following a post by @Tr1x24 in another thread, where OM, N. Avocas, and Ross Males were mentioned, having accepted other male's offspring. I know the Avocas didn't accept Big Boy, even though the pride had taken him in when he followed his partner NYM back to the pride, though the Avocas had accepted NYM, and allowed him to linger.

But, this got me wondering, who was Big Boy's father(s), and was Big Boy gone by the time OM took over the pride?

Big boy's father was one of the majingilane males. He was long gone by the time the othawa male joined the pride.
Although, the Othawa male tolerated Tinya, who was sired by likely Birmingham male Tinyo.

I should also add that in early and mid 2015, the matimbas were also mating with the mangheni females. So many said back then that matimbas were the fathers of some of the Mangheni 12 subs.

When it came time to den and give birth, the females stayed closer to majingilanes.

No way to know for sure.
