Ricardo Casarin: " Jaguar in action!

A special day at the Cuiabá river in the northern pantanal!
Unsuccessful hunting, but this action brought to us a great moment! "

Ricardo Casarin: " A jaguar feeding on a cow in the pantanal, the jaguars have different preferences and some of them like the cattle in the pantanal. This photograph was taken Four years ago at @refugioecologicocaiman. "

"This huge male jaguar was preparing it's jump on a group of capybaras, who luckily for them, saw him first and ran to the water and the big guy gave up on them. I love to see how he is concentrating and savouring its pray with anticipation - look the saliva at his mouth... It was an incredible moment! At Pantanal, Brasil. Better seen large."

@Dark Jaguar do you know the name of this male? To me it looks like Adriano but I might be wrong, do you see how big and muscular he is?

I'm inclined to believe the alleged weight of 158 kg provided by Panthera Brazil.

That 158kg weight was already debunked, he was officially confirmed to be 130kg. I wonder how large the mighty Xavier male was, too bad he wasn't weighed.

That's a shame, he appears bigger than the 130kg jaguars I've seen. And yes, Xavier is feared deceased for a few years now, he and Fantasma would've been heavy big during their prime. It'd be amazing if they could recover Fantasma's skull for measurement, I have never seen jaguar with a larger head, definitely above 300 mm.

That would be awesome to catch both Fantasma ( Ghost ) and Xavier skulls but I don't think that will happen cause Fantasma got dethroned by Xavier 7 years ago to be never seen again and Xavier after his reign at Caiman Ecological Refuge was last seen heading North, after that Xavier was never seen by Onçafari again, the only jaguar skull I know of Onçafari collected its skull  is Garoa female's, Garoa had a very sad end despite having many signs of pregnancy she never succedded having cubs,  in October 2016 the team found her body already lifeless, and according to Onçafari all the sings show Garoa was killed by other jaguars she was seriously wounded with scratches all over her body and very deep bite marks on her windpipe, a blow that possibly resulted in her premature death.

here's Garoa female skull. She was the daughter of Chuva female.

So much happening in the world right now. It’s important to remember that one day soon we’ll be able to travel & get out to places where these incredible animals are living. Absolutely can’t wait! "  *

One of the two young brothers. Caption "king of the jungle" indeed!

I'm looking forward not only to seeing how much these two brothers grow to be, but also I'm expectant to see if they really do form a long term coalition.
