There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

From Exotics on the Range: The Texas Example by Elizabeth Cary Mungall

"...The nilgai's short horns can kill even a large eland bull..." Page 20

"...A nilgai bull so tame that he would eat out of guests' hands picked a fight as soon as he was let loose in a pasture with a resident eland bull and killed him. An eland bull has been known to best a nearly grown ox and send him off wounded..." Page 84

That is quite an impressive feat for an animal highly underrated I think.

A Huge Fella : Bluebull Adult Male

Biggest Bluebull i have ever seen so far.adult males have a bluish grey coat. Only males possess horns, 15–24 centimetres long.A sturdy thin-legged antelope, the nilgai is characterised by a sloping back, a deep neck with a white patch on the throat, a short mane of hair behind and along the back ending behind the shoulder, and around two white spots each on its face, ears, cheeks, lips and chin. The ears, tipped with black, are 15–18 centimetres long. A column of coarse hair, known as the "pendant" and around 13 centimetres long in males, can be observed along the dewlap ridge below the white throat patch. The tufted tail, up to 54 centimetres , has a few white spots and is tipped with black. The forelegs are generally longer, and the legs are often marked with white "socks".

Stomping grounds.
Kaziranga is truly the land of giants. It's not only home to the world's largest population of greater one-horned rhino, with large numbers of wild water buffalo and elephants, it has also got the highest density of tigers in the world. You rarely see the tigers though, due to very high grass and dense vegetation.

From Nkorho Bush Lodge:
"5 november (morning): A beautiful morning in the bush started with us finding our newest discovery - the "Kudyala" or Kudu/Nyala hybrid. It is as big as a kudu bull, has bigger horns, looks like a male Nyala but is the colour of a female Nyala. Quite an interesting find!"
