There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

Round one : Fight
Dovrefjell National Park
Norway
It's the end of the day, the light becomes grazing and among the small group of muskoxen who stands in front of us, two males decide to make a brief face to face with a header before they goes away each one on its side.
One wonder though how animals of such weight and power remains at the heart of harsh Norwegian winter with for only food some dried frozen grasses. Another miracle of nature whose capacity to adapt, if we give it time, should only surprise and inspire us.

Could this be a case of a African Cape Buffalo mourning the loss of a loved one?

The Two Gems ..

Within the massive popularity of carnivores , predators , the megaherbivores r often over looked . Jaldapara is a place for all megaherbivore lovers , namely those who really love elephants , gaurs and rhinos . As Elephants n Gaurs share somewhat similar food habits they r often found together near the waterholes and salt licks .... One point of time , even now these r the two species maximally affected by the human conflicts , in Jaldapara utmost efforts r taken to mitigate that . We need to save these giants tooo , they r the two lovliest gems of our forest .

Check out the size of the Gaurs Horns @6:00!
That's what blew me away at the wild animal park, the width and size of the horns on the gaur isn't shown in video, you have to see them to believe them.

Is the Western Black Rhino Extinct?

Unfortunately it is.

This weeks cover image was taken by Heinrich Neumeyer! What a sighting! What an image! The story behind the image: We came across this incredible sight just as the massive White Rhino bull returned from his quench and started walking towards the lioness with her 4 small cubs.
Luckily the Rhino was just a tad curious and the lioness and her cubbies trotted away safely.

I hate it, whenever natural occurrences or "inhuman" animal actions occur, the commentators behind the video state "Somebody stop him/her!" or "Oh my god! Why isn't anybody stopping this?"

Had to put the video on mute.

@Polar :

About #34: agree with you as concerns these people "too" emotional. They were believing that the animal world isn't what it should be.
