Avoca male lions

Northern Avoca Males
  • Accumulatively, we saw these males one week of this month. They made their presence known at a giraffe kill they shared with the Nkuhuma pride around the Sausage Spot on the 6th.
  • They were seen for the two days following the giraffe kill, once twice at the Sausage Spot and later at Mlowathi Dam.
  • On the 24th, one male was with the Nkuhuma Pride east of Stwise. The lions remained in the same area for 48 hours when the second male in this coalition joined them.
  • On the 26th , they participated in the killing of an impala ram southwest of Mlowathi Dam. Members of the Nkuhuma pride were present too.

Southern Avoca Males
  • The first sighting of these males was on the 5th when they were together south of Tjellahanga Pans.
  • The two males finished a young zebra kill on the 11th at Charleston Rock.
  • On the last day of the month, one male was alone at Boomers Crossing.

Apparently Blondie was seen today in even worse condition then in the photo you posted. He was very skinny and lost some mane. I have no photo to confirm it so do not believe in me yet.

Someone posted on the Avoca Facebook page that pic of Blondie was taken 5 days ago and that he and Mohawk  took down a big Nyala bull sometime after this. So who knows whats going on. He’s looked pretty bad before and recovered. His health is always up and down , but seems to be more down than up lately. Hopefully he’ll be on the up side again soon.

Footage of DM from a couple of days ago. His mane is looking really good. Still not as full as before but looking significantly better than a few months ago.

DM footage posted yesterday but may have been from a few days ago as well.

Hmmm. That’s odd. I can access without issue. The footage can also be seen on the Avoca Facebook page:

If I had to guess, it is inaccessible to those without a FB account. If you wish to see if it is accessible to those without a FB account, simply log out of your account and test the link. This new link is accessible though. Thanks!

Poor Blondie. Is he on his own? I’ve seen some recent footage of Mohawk but he looked to be by himself with Blondie no where in sight. So sad to see him like this. Sad

Legend Safaris is claiming that it's Dark Mane in the video not Blondie. Leaving the link to the post made on Twitter with their reply in. Perhaps someone on here will be able to make heads or tails of whom it actually is. https://twitter.com/LIONLOVERS5/status/1...kUNLA&s=19

Looks like it's Blondie. That's really sad. Hope he make it.

Im pretty sure is one of the Southern Avocas. @lionuk mentioned a few months ago that he had a problem in his left eye, and it still seems so today
