There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.
About #981: I note the flexibilty of the thumb claw of the right front leg, the claw being quite perpendicular to the axe of the leg (radius and ulna bones).

How in the world did that happen? He looks quite big but a bit scruffy. Maybe he was sick?
Photos are very misleading. In fact he was probably the smallest adult lion I have ever seen. He was old and the lioness scratched him badly. He died of a blood poisoning
Its amur - sumatran mix (yes, he doesnt look sumatran at all). His name was Timur. His coat points to amur ancestors, his smallish size (I estimate him to be 180 kg max) points to sumatran tigers. He had to be excluded from breeding program and he has been replaced by Igor (see above), who is pure amur.
Photos are misleading - Timur looks more robust than Igor (and in fact he was) and you would say that Timur is probably heavier. But photos dont show the striking difference in height and lenght - Igor is completely different league.
