The Birmingham Males

"We looked up and saw one of the Birmingham males in the middle of the clearing lift his head. This was the first time they were seen together after the death of the Othawa male lion on Londolozi and we therefore knew that neither of them had been the casualty."

The older and slightly more battle-scarred Birmingham male emerges from the long grass, seeking out a shadier spot to rest up for the remainder of the day. He now has a few more scars decorating his face, likely from the battle with the Othawa male.

Whilst one male was seeking refuge in the shade of a tree, his brother cast his eye over at a number of descending vultures in the distance, deciding whether or not he should go over and investigate. He chose to stay put.

As per John Varty, he thought it was the dark-maned Birmingham male the death male lion found in Londolozi, as per reports,
Tinyo was looking in poor condition,But John Varty looked at the teeth and determinated it was a young male, indeed, the  teeth of the Othawa male.

Nhenha definitely looking roough after the fight, visiable bites on his body on this picture, also limp on from leg and looking quite battered overall, as i said it looks like Nhenha was the one who was attacking OM from the head and holding him down, while Tinyo had easier job and doing dirty work from behind, which is understandable as Nhenha is more powerful of the 2.

Visiable claw or bite marks on Nhenha from the fight vs OM:

They must have done a very efficient job on the OM as neither look to have sustained any major injuries from the altercation

Its hard for lone male to do serious damage in 1 vs 2, besides few scratches and minor bites.. Because theres always 2 males attacking him and 1 is always holding him by head so he cant bite and he cant get to hold one for serious mauling..

Watch 2 Kambaku males vs 1 older unknown male, or 2 Mazithis vs s129, Kaka and Maridadi vs Lolparpit etc... Neither of those attacking males sustained any injuries besides few scratches..

"Despite all our talk of the Birmingham males ageing (fact), when push came to shove they still managed to corner and kill the Othawa male. To be fair, we don’t know exactly what happened that night (post coming soon with some theories), but the bottom line is they are still here while he is gone. With five young cubs in the Ntsevu Pride and another lioness looking pregnant, let’s hope this coalition can make it through another year at least…"
