Talamati/Msutlu Pride

So, what's going on here? MalaMala June report says Mohawk was sharing a kill with the smaller BDM and 3 members of the Talamati pride on 28th:

On the 26th, he was found with a fresh buffalo kill in the Mlowathi River, south of Mlowathi Dam, which he was sharing with members of the Talamati pride and surprisingly, the smaller Black Dam male. He remained in this area until the 28th.

I remember when this was originally reported, but who are those 3 Talamati lions ( assuming MalaMala isn't misidentifying them ), I checked this thread and the female sub was already missing for a long time by 11-06-2024.

Then MalaMala continues, about the smaller BDM:

On the 23rd, he was on the Gowrie Boundary, far east of the Mlowathi River, where he stole a warthog kill from young members of the Talamati Pride.

And then on the report of the actual Talamati pride, they say:

TALAMATI PRIDE (6 sightings) – Two lionesses and a sub-adult male killed a warthog on the Gowrie Boundary, east of the Mlowathi River on the 23rd. which was immediately stolen by the Black Dam male. The same three individuals were feeding on a buffalo kill with the Northern Avoca male and Black Dam male in the Mlowathi River, south of Mlowathi Dam, from the 26th to the 28th. The sub-adult male was alone on the 29th, just east of the buffalo kill.

How is this possible? Two lionesses and a sub-adult male? If these are really the Talamatis, who is the second female with Tiyelele? And she was with Tiyelele for a while because they killed the warthog on the 23rd and were on the kill with Mohawk and the BDM from 26th to the 28th. Then the subadult male was seen alone in the next day.

I think the above was at least a week ago or longer because Tiyelele is now seen alone with K12, no sighting of the young male for days now.

Great news, the 4th female was pregnant! They found 3 females with their 7 cubs and later discovered the 4th in the bush with her two new cubs.

One thing is for certain, those Gijimas are really fertile males, they have cubs at a crazy frequency.

Waiting for definitive ID but most believe this is Tiyelele (far left) who has joined the Nkuhumas at their kill

Wouldn't have thought lionesses would tolerate a lone lioness, even at a kill. And it's not like there's tonnes of meat left.

I heard Cedric say once that it's not out of the question (unlikely though) that a lioness could be accepted by another pride. Maybe this could happen with Tiyelele and the Nkuhumas. Who knows.

I think there’s too many females for that to happen, and I’m not sure if all Nkuhuma females are together atm. So her being fine around this group doesn’t mean she’ll be fine around the whole pride.

Well the way the nkuhuma pride is it will likely split again unfortunately if the plains camp males continue to come east to ridgenose Birmingham and amber eyes two daughters are  with the plains camp males I think 2 or 3 may be pregnant that leaves pale eyes and 4 3 year old subadults and potentially the talamati female would be kinda cool if the talamati pride could rejoin the nkuhuma pride after all these years

I think Rob the Ranger documented various instances of the Ximhungwes and Othawas and a southern pride lioness sharing kills with each other in his video journals.
It is uncommon, but probably not that rare.

Talamati pride was formed as a breakaway from the Nkuhumas. So the Talamati lineage comes from Nkuhumas linked all the way back to Blondie and Dozie Nkuhumas
