Yes, look at his left ear, or almost lack of it, in this case.

Many of his pics are confusing because sometimes there are older pics posted, but yes, it's him.

@Tshokwane :

About #1157:Yes... As concerns the left ear you're quite right.

As a result, Earless is a fully grown male lion, no more a "still young male" as I told.

Who will Take Over Double Cross/Enkuyanai Pride?
In the last few months since the disappearance of Romeo 2,Blackie and Lipstick have mated with nearly all the subs in this pride,Lolpapit and Olbarnoti have done the same!
What is interesting here to watch is that one lioness,Naibor has her two cubs and one adopted one.No one knows whose these cubs are,I have seen both coalitions hanging around with these cubs, but mostly Lolpapit.
Yesterday Lolpapit was with the pride for at least 3 days and this morning Blackie and Lipstick were exactly in at where Lolpapit was,yes and we left them there this evening again.
Of the five subs all have been mating and one has already shown some pregnancy.
Soon this pride will have lots of cubs but who will claim this territory?we at Zebra Plains Mara Camp are so eager to see what will happen to this pride.
All these photos were taken in the last two days, today included.

Lolparpit & Olbarnoti.

These 2 males were born into the Ridge Pride beginning of 2005 along with another male called Junior (from a different female). There were 2 other males born into this pride end of 2003 (Cheza) and mid 2004 (Sala). The latter became famous due to the Big Cat Diary BBC Documentary.

Towards the end of 2007 all 5 males (now nomadic) took over the Olkiombo Pride. It took them some time to be accepted by the females and only 3 males stayed with the Olkiombo Pride, Cheza, Sala and Junior. Olbarnoti and Lolparpit moved on. In the course of 2008 they took over a new pride who has settled down in the north western parts of the Olare Orok Conservancy, the Enkoyonai Pride. Mid of 2010 they chased off the 2 old Moniko Males (Mzee and Lolalai) and took over the Moniko Pride. Olbarnoti and Lolparpit controlled the entire Olare Orok Conservancy unti mid of 2011.

After having had several confrontations with the Double Crossing/Ridge Pride Males (Olchorre and Naengop) and after the Notches invaded the Double Crossing Area and the south western parts of Olare Orok Conservancy mid of 2011, Olbarnoti & Lolparpit gave up on the Enkoyonai Pride while the two Ridge Pride Males left the Double Crossing Pride and took over. Well, the Notches moved on very soon.

End of 2012 two other males took over the Double Crossing Pride, Mohican & Romeo II and a year later they also took over the Enkoyonai Pride and chased off Olchorre (after Naengop has vanished without trace). Mohican & Romeo II also tried to chase off Olbarnoti & Lolparpit, but the latter were too strong and holded on. In the first half of 2015 the 5 Rekero Males invaded the Double Crossing Area and the eastern parts of Olare Motorogi. They chased off Olbarnoti & Lolparpit and took over parts of the Moniko Pride. Olbarnoti & Lolparpit lost the other members of the Moniko Pride to 2 new young males in the course of 2016, hence they took over a spin off from the Enkoyonai Pride, the Oldikidiki Pride.

Currently they are competing with Lipstick & Blackie trying to take over the Enkoyonai Pride after Mohican died and Romeo II vanished.

MANDEVU & BROTHER CHASED BY BUFFALOS
The lion males Mandevu and his brother, coming the long way from Rhinoridge, appeared yesterday morning only in a few hundred meters distance from Matiracamp.
As nomads they are roaming in our area and relaxed quite exhausted under the bushes in the shade. About noon the silence was over. Buffalos attacked them. Both escaped on a small tree and lingered a while until the buffalos passed.

Flehmen response of the King - with the plains of Mara in the backdrop - Masai Mara, Kenya - 2017
First, the story behind the picture and then some theory on the so called 'Flehmen response' - both in this post below.

Story:
We called this Lion as 'Devdas'. During a game drive in Masai Mara one morning, we noticed a pair of mating lion and lioness. Not far from this pair was another large male (the same male as seen in this picture). Apparently, he was the brother of the lion that was currently mating with the lioness. History suggests that a lioness may mate with more than one male when she is in heat. Hence, the feeling was that the lioness had chosen one of the brothers and continued its mating sessions. However, the other brother (in this picture) was maintaining a decent distance from the mating pair. As the mating pair slowly kept moving away, this brother also continued to walk in the same direction, albeit maintaining the same distance from the mating pair. He continued to be within sight of the lioness with the hope that the lioness may choose to give up her current mate and instead decide to mate with him at some point and he might then get a chance. During this waiting process, he is seen displaying the Flehmen response in this picture. Read below to understand more about the Flehmen response.
The Flehmen response takes place when one lion, of either sex, sniffs and smells the urine of another. Chemicals and hormones contained in the urine elicit the Flehmen response. Usually, after smelling the urine patch on the ground or vegetation, the cat that is doing the smelling will lift his or her head, and hold their lips back in a strong grimace for a period of several seconds. If you have never seen it happen before, it can appear to be a threat display, but in fact it has nothing to do with threat. By sniffing deeply, and then pulling back their lips, they are in fact ‘testing’ the chemical content of the urine left behind by the earlier animal. Also, because lions are social for much of the time, it is easier to observe the Flehmen response taking place amongst members of the same pride. Although Flehmen is observed amongst males and females, it appears to be most important to males and it plays a part in allowing them to determine whether a female may be entering an oestrous cycle.

Blackie & Lipstick (4KM Boyz) (Born 2006)

A male lion coalition from the Maasai Mara Kenya, the Madomo pride males. The 4KM Males were a coalition of 4 males but 2 of the males disappeared. How long they hold their territory for we will wait and see as they are 12yr old plus, old for pride males. The most impressive black maned males in the Mara at the moment.
