Exciting News!

The Eyrefield lionesses’s cubs have been found! She had been denning for a long time in a strategic spot close to Kirkman’s Kamp , with guests and staff regularly hearing roars and seeing the lionesses in the riverbed. Yesterday we got our first glimpse of them! They’re about 6 weeks old and are still a little shy of the vehicles. Hopefully with regular careful and cautious viewing, their curious sides will encourage them to fully emerge from their den.

The new male seen with Southern pride is presumed to be Big Boy Mhangeni. Nkuhuma male was seen in the Londolozi as well as Three Tooth Tsalala. It looks like Avoca males finnaly forced young males out of Nkuhuma pride.

Mhageni male with southern pride

"We watched on as a young male and lioness stalked a dazzle of unsuspecting zebra. The young male eventually gave their presence away as he wondered off to a nearby herd of impala who then started alarm calling."

Amber eyes lioness from Nkuhuma Pride has a brand new cub! fathered by northern Avoca. So we have three cubs in this pride. Ridge nosed - 2 male cubs, Amber eyes - 1 cub. Interestingly Ridge nosed lioness and Amber eyes are sister from the same litter (2012). Their mother was killed by Birmingham Boys. They are daughters of Matimbas.

We have probably more cubs, Im pretty sure that purple eyed lioness also hiding cubs somewhere.

such a great news, cubbies everywhere

the lioness "purple eye" seems to have cubs in a den too, so more cubs will still appear.
