I wonder what happened to BDMs.

To all of suden lose all confidence and getting pushed by random lone nomads..

I think it must be some kind of disease/health problems, especially visible on smaller/mohawked male.

For months he looks quite skinny and lost all his mane. I also saw recent footage of him vomiting.

Both males also seen ocassionaly limping for half a year now, maybe more.

These guys are 6.5 yrs old, in their prime, had history of clashing and chasing territorial males, there should be no reason for that if they are 100% healthy, just look at their northern brothers, they are massive beast, idk.

I think there must be health problems.

As we are all aware, the scourge that is TB causes crystals to build up on the bones, making it incredibly painful to walk or move around. I sure hope these boys don't have it, but the signs are there. I remember S8, in his final days, throwing up, a lot. His end came relatively quickly, from the time we first noticed the black spots on his front shoulder, then when he got really sick, it took him in a matter of days, absolutely heartbreaking. I wish nothing but success for the two SBDM, and have had so much hope for them both, since their arrival in SS. I will continue to hold onto that, until we know for certain one way or the other.

OMG. You have a point with the vomiting and then succumbing to TB quickly.  The lion doesn't look too good either....  I'm so sorry for the young male.    I hope he can rally again.

Is the Talamati even 5yo?

He lost his brother and was never territorial.

BDM is in his prime, has his brother, was territorial for a year and then had their moment as semi territorial ( maybe still are ), but still submits to the Talamati.

Truth is that these BDM never had the strength to be dominant males, the only possible way for them to succeed is if they find an area without any coalitions and manage to rule there without ever being challenged.

But in the harsh reality of fierce competition everywhere, they don't stand a chance.

Talamati is almost 5.5.

Read what we discuss.

BDMs at age of 5 ousted Mohawk and challenged coalition of 3 males in Ndhzengas with who they had numerous clashes, later chased confident S8 male, Nkuhuma young males, Kambula young males etc.

If they where not "ready" or lack strenght, they would not do that things in the first place, especially against territorial males, they would still be like Kambulas are now.

I dont think this decline in the past ~half year is possible without health issues, both males lost mane, are limping occasionaly and mohawked male has serious weight problems.

@Tr1x24 Bigger BDM is 100% healthy and the only time he has ever seen limping was after fights. He never ever displayed any signs of illness.

Only territorial male they chased was 11yo S8 2v1, and before that, as territorial males, they were chased by him.

Any males willing to assert themselves against the BDM 1v1, 2v2, will win, BDM simply never had it in them and only became dominant to begin with because they got incredibly lucky, finding an ideal area.

I'm not that surprised about Khanya be so tough because the last couple of times they supported dad DM against S8, Khanya got minor injuries while DM junior got no even a scratch, which makes me think Khanya was actively involved in the fights.

That was only a "rumor" from guides, nobody saw that, other lions where in the area aswell, so nobody actually knows who clashed with who that night.

Even if they clashed with S8, it was prob on a kill, and not a territorial battle.

I know that but Khanya's minor injuries on his legs and S8 limping were not rumors.

Now I think about it, of thr two it's the Talamati male that's mated most recently, and in this area too. So maybe he's feeling more territorial than the BD male, who is fully nomadic at this point. I hope he doesn't get overconfident, especially with the PC males hanging around.
