"Could it not be a positive if the othawa male lost his pride"
For Othawa male rather no. Nomadic life is more difficult and dangerous than life with a pride. For pride rather yes as stronger coalition can provide more stability.
"He could then find another male/males to form a coalition with?"

Touching tribute to the last lionesses and their cubs from the 2 most legendary prides in history of Sabi Sands:
I think Tsalala lady has bigger chances to raise her cub, she is young and live in relative stable area.
Sparta lioness is very old, hunting on her own will be challenge in those years and i dont think she will live long enough for her cub to be indenpendet, which is 2.5 - 3 more yrs atleast, she is 12/13 yrs old atm. Plus, area in which they live will be pretty unstable soon, with 4 new N'ws males around a corner and her pride males S. Avocas hanging mostly in Kruger lately.

Though if the N'waswishaka Males take over control of the Sparta Pride could be Great news (Not to all by the Sparta female cub) But she have the sustain of four young males in their prime,Is more easily raise their cubs to the independence Is just my point of view,Great sightings thanks for sharing

I agree, But everything can happen, Although they may accept she as the male Othawa to the daughter of Birmingham
I wouldn't call northen Londolozi stable arena as Mhangeni, Styx and Kambula prides occasionally venture into that arena and all of them obviously are threat for Tslalala female and her cub.

MALAMALA TODAY: 13-15 January. Over the course of the past few days the bushveld has a sense of renewed life. The summer rains have draped the reserve in a vibrant green cloak. The southern section of the reserve, Charleston has seen five different prides traversing the area. The Styx Pride crossed the Sand River east and then back onto the western bank. They potentially had a close run-in with the Kambula Pride. The Kambula pride and one Gowrie male were found at entrance Sibuye Drive. They may have stolen a kill from the Styx Pride. A yet to be identified pride, consisting of five lions (4 females and 1 sub-adult male) were at Charleston Koppies. *There is sad news, as we unfortunately announce the passing of the younger Eyrefield lioness. She passed from natural causes. Leaving just the older lioness and her young female cub. In the northern parts of the reserve a Gowrie male and a Kambula lioness have been mating near Flockfield Tower. Two lionesses from the Nkuhuma Pride were viewed near Mlowati Dam roaring in search of the rest of their pride members.
Lions: The Kambula Pride and one Gowrie male caught a Wildebeest close to MalaMala Camp. A Kambula lioness was mating with the darker maned Gowrie male. The Eyrefield Pride were seen in the Sand River at Flat Rocks. The previously unidentified lions are the 5 young members of the Torchwood Pride. We watched the 4 lionesses and young male catch a warthog piglet. The Nkuhuma Pride were viewed near the Tselbe Rocks Donga. The Styx Pride were in the south near Verreaux Crossing.
We can see the change in the Juniors look and appearence, he is not innocent youngster anymore, he is starting to become a beast and protector of his pride.
