No idea, maybe a female he was mating with, I doubt a male like Rogerio would tolerate another male near his presence. And not to exaggerate his size, but from that vehicle he looked as big as a lioness, I'm impressed, very tall too.

@Dark Jaguar @Pckts @peter and all others, we have the first pictures of the monster Joker!!!

PANTANAL: Credits to Jenny Varley

"This is Joker, our longtime friend. Monitored since 2016 by the @oncafari team, Joker is about 7 years old and is in good health, he weighs over 300 pounds! (more than 140 kg) Did you know that jaguars are identified by rosettes, those designs formed on their coats? The Joker's most distinct marking is a question mark-shaped rosette."

In the onçafari page there are other 3 old photos of him, Onçafari better track him for capture in this September, if they dont make it, it may get too late, chances of another capture of this male could dimish as well as his size. I already don't know how massive Colombiano male is/was, not knowing Joker size will be a big let down and in case Onçafari capture him they better weight him instead of just collaring him like they did with Lua cerrado female ( they didn't weight her ). by the way Joker is a very easy jaguar to identify, the dude got a ''questioning mark'' on the left side of his body as well as a very unique face for me to perceive him.

I was thinking the other day with all these datas, measurements, skulls collected from jaguars nowadays they could even launch a book ( like Almeida style ) focusing on the sizes of jaguars ( all biomes ) it would take many team up and collaborations around the country, but they dont care much about sizes like we do, so that would be too much of a dream for me ( us ) haha.

Joker from these pics look in the same size range as Balam if you ask me.

Do you have more recent pics of him?

@Dark Jaguar those are the only recent pictures of him out there, unfortunately, he's a ghost and Edu himself told that tracking him was really difficult because it's hard to find him for captures. The fact that when they tried to put him to sleep and underestimated his size which caused him to wake up from the anesthesia early tells you all you need to know about his size. I think he's bigger than Balam, and might potentially be 145-155 kg in weight, according to Ailton Lara he thinks Balam is 135 kg in weight, so I put him in the range of 135-140, and Edno who according to the Jaguar ID Project is even bigger than Balam could weight 140-145 kg. All huge males.

Hey I forgot to tell you the other day, in that video you posted of Rogério cerrado male running, did you notice he was running kinda odd, rewatch it 10 times repeatedly and note his hind legs when he crosses in front of the car, when I notice that the first thing that came into my mind was a possible fight with the unknown massive cerrado male or even Richard male trying to venture out of the south area which is his territory.

I wish Leandro could install a camera in the area the wild cerrado jaguars interact in the enclosures of Xavante and Pandora, things happens in that place and if I were Leandro I wouldn't miss the opportunity to register those things specially to finally spot the unknown male or even Ariane female with her cubs.

About the pantanal ones this is the first time I see you estimate a modern jaguar above 150 kg hehe.

Onçafari team have to do a special operation in order to capture him since they don't have his signal. start preying for this to happen, if there's a chance of this male to be capture it will be next month.

If Balam is really 135 kg it would be a huge let down to me, this male for me is on Colombiano's level.

About Edno I think he still can add more kilos to that body which will make him even more impressive and he is not that old. you know he got chased by Adriano right.

Out of all of this, something just came into my mind here and I couldn't stop laughing haha

While we're talking about these jaguars real sizes and weights there are still people out there who thinks pantanal male averages is 90/96 kg hahaha.

I'm finally getting around to reading the Jaguars of Northern
Pantanal book.

Ill update as I do sporadically.

Here is an excerpt about the large size of the Hunter female.

And this is why its so hard for you to see young jaguar's in North, the large male density just makes it too unsafe to keep youngster in this Jaguar paradise.

LLANOS: New female to register here, her name is Guanota from the Aurora Reserve. She is two years of age so still a sub-adult:

I wonder where she fits in the genealogical tree of females from the area I posted before.

Edno northern Pantanal male, the best way to identify him is by his line of dots on his forehead at the bottom of his main central spots which form a "house drawing" silhouette, rather than the common butterfly. He also has a very square skull. Edno in 2019 by Larissa Pantanal:
