posted by its president Leandro Silveira on wednesday 4th. This afternoon we received an emergency call from a neighboring farmer to rescue a cub of Bush Cat ( Leopardus geoffroyi ). It is worth mentioning that the IOP does not have this redemption attribution and only continued after consultation and guidance from SEMAD. Arriving at the site we found out that it was not a Bush Cat it happened to be a Cerrado Jaguar cub. The orphan is a female and she is very malnourished and dehydrated and who knows what happened to her mom. The animal will continue to be treated here at the IOP until she recovers. Let's hope she survives. She must be around 4 months old. Now she has to be more isolated until she drinks and eat enough in order recover her physical conditions. Some are stating she must be one of Ariane's cub but its hard to know since Cerrado is huge. Looking forward for more info and updates from Leandro and IOP on these cerrado jaguars in the wild Cerrado.
While we all await patiently for more news and update on that rescued little cub from IOP. let's head to east Cerrado.
