Who were the 5 males that he speaks of, having invaded the Majin's territory, when the Majins killed a male that James describes a the "Southern Male"? He also mentioned the fights with the Selatis, so I do not think it is them he is referring to.

The Selati males
They were usually called Southern males by Londolozi. After all they were born in the Selati/Southern pride

Ah, OK, then he threw me off, by speaking of the Selatis, and this group of 5. I did not know they killed one of the Selatis in their first confrontation, and James also mentions their having caught a second one of them later.

This single screen shot speaks volumes, to all these boys dealt with during their reign.

No coalition at their time defeated them, they were ready for everyone. Amazing display of how crucial the bond between male lions is, always together.

And yet, they could also be brutal towards one another at times, as well. James points out that they all, often had bite marks on their faces from scraps with one another, even shows some of those fights in the video. As the saying goes, brothers fight, but when it comes time to protect what is theirs, they stuck together like glue.

@Ngonya depends on what you consider "defeat", many coalitions won clashes against them, they have retreated even in their own territory.

They have also abandoned most of their territory in Northern SS under pressure of the Matimba.

But yeah they were very strong and competent.

The success of the Majingilane in defeating many coalitions was due to the fact that they were always together when they fought them. The only time they weren't together was the time their 5th brother was killed by Mr. T and Kinky tail (Shaka), although I think I read that the 4 Majingilane were close and heard the fight and for unknown reasons didn't come to help.

They were lucky not to face the Mapogos when they were all together because history could've been different.

They were a powerful unit and knew very well how to work together, but there were many instances where they were alone or outnumbered and still performed well.

They had competition from 6 Mapogo, 6 Matimba, 5 Birminghams and 3 Sand River Males after all.

Edit: And 4 Selatis.

I agree my friend but I'm only referring to a hypothetical confrontation with 5 or even 4 Mapogos together. Actually, if my recollection is correct, when Mr. T came back with the other 3 (not sure if Makhulu stayed) or 4 Mapogos  to the Majingilane's territory for a battle, they didn't confront Mapogos while they were together despite of being aware of the Mapogos' presence in their territory.

Idk much about the Majingilane conflicts historic but i dont recall "many" coalitions defeating them.
Selatis in some occasions yeah but despite them... Who? Matimba?

In their contact the Majingilanes chased them. But except for that i think they never put an effort on defending there, after all they had a huge territory, more than they could cover thought.
Its more like they just vacated than ousted by Matimba (not saying you said they were ousted, just commenting my point of view on this whole situation).

@afortich Mapogos only went as far as Londolozi, spent a day or 2 there and headed back west, Majingis were further east at the time and it wouldn't make sense for them to try to take on 5 Mapogo.

Still soon after Rasta was likely killed by Majingilane and PB badly injured by them. After that there were still 4 Mapogo left for more than 4 months and they never tried to retake Londolozi and protect the Tsalala pride from the 4 Majingilane.

PB recovered quickly, they had more than enough time but never did anything, they accepted their defeat after the PB/Rasta fight and gave Londolozi and Tsalalas to Majingis, and Mr.T gave up the rest of the territory in MalaMala and the north.

@Ngonya 4 Matimba and 3 Majingi chased each others back and forth in mid 2011 and despite one could say Majingis chased them off their territory at the end, they soon abandoned it under pressure of the Matimbas.

All that area in the North besides Elephant Plains, that they took from Mapogos and Gijimas, they surrendered it to Matimbas basically immediately after that clash, there's even a report saying they left the area under pressure of the Matimbas.

That was the territory where they fought the Mapogo which happened in Nkorho, and the Nkuhuma pride had more females than all other prides out there, they had no reason to abandon it but from the pressure of the 6 males that arrived there.

There's also a report from 2 months earlier saying that Matimba injured DM Majingilane.

They lost a clashes to Mlowathi, Matimbas, Selatis and Matshipiri, sometimes multiple times.

S.Matimba pushed them off their own territory 2v2.

For some reason, likely read somewhere or seen in videos, but I have always thought it was the Selatis who PB got so beaten up by, when he had all those bite marks on his back.
