Aren't these the cubs born in December?

They had a new litter just born recently, maybe 1 week ago.

( This post was last modified: 03-09-2021, 04:43 AM by RookiePundit Edit Reason: sorry, I accidentally posted it prematurely, scrapped touchpad or something )

White Dot had 3 cubs (1,2) in December, her sister is now denning, from WE drive the guides know the location and so far saw just one tawny cub. She has been leaving the pride at times for some time and swollen teats, it is safe to assuem they were born in February, just spotted for the first time now.

The split based on WE drive info seems to be:

Core

2 Ross Males
White Dot female (mother of 3 cubs born in December)
her sister (mother of a litter born recently still hidden, so often on her own)
her daughter (mother of year old cubs)
sub-adult female (has a wound on the back of left back leg, not a small one but doesn't seem to bother her)
2 year old cubs (male and female)
3 2-months something old cubs (1 male, 2 females, which went through missing patches of fur, possibly mange, which has provided distinctive markers to identify them from each other)

all those were viewed on the Morning WE sunset drive, just not all together:
- wildebeest carcass fed upon by the males and sub-adult female keeping their distance, eventually snatching a part and carrying it away to eat it; it is quite possible her leg injury might be carcass realted and not a sign of her not being accepted back into the pride
- denning female on a river bed near the supposed "den" location
- 3 females with 5 cubs, one of them possibly the sub-adult (I believe the guide used term "younger female") on a river chased repeatedly by different elephants in a river bed after sunset; considering they moved from the previous sighting of the denning female to this group, it seems it was the other three females including the sub-adult - I was not focusing on that but one of the adult was smaller (which doesn not mean much as White Dot and her sister are quite big themselves); anyway it seem the sub-adult is likely to fight herself a way back into the pride

Breakway

are in Manyeleti, the "white group" with both white lions

2 oldest Birmingham females (around 14yrs old according to the guide)
Birmingham Young Male
3 Sub-Adult males, inculding the white one
4 Sub-Adults females, including the white one

So overall 11-12+ individuals in the core (depending on whether you count the newest cub(s) already and 9-10 individuals in the breakaway white group (depending on whether you count BYM now adult male as member of the pride) = 20-22+ members of the pride.

The previous post on that account from the same day shows cubs are for sure those 3 born in Decemeber, so this migh or might not be one of the cub from newest February litter, hard to tell. Either way, there is a new litter of unknown number of cubs, which we will hopefully see soon or get more info about.

Are White Dot and her sister not the two oldest Birmingham lionesses? I thought she was 14 years old?

That's what I have thought and that is why I added the line things in that post are based on WE drive and info from the guide on that drive (not everything though).

Just read that Russell MacLaughlin is on a NatGeoWild assignment and that's why he was in Ngala, I think they're making a documentary on the Timbavati White Lions, hope we get some cool scenes not shown on WildEarth

Caught up with the livestream, had the Birmingham breakaways on today, with the two ross males. the blonde ross male was shadowing the tailless birmingham breakaway female, maybe trying to mate but she wasn't interested right now. The dark mane Ross male was away in the bushes somewhere apparently beating up the breakaway sub-adults.

Guide says the Ross males have been busy recently, chasing a lot of young males out of Ngala.

Youngsters down in manyteleti.
Can see white dot at 37 seconds, so she's definitely with them

Wasn't White Dot supposed to be the mother of the 3 cubs (the litter with mange/patches of missin fur). There is nobody you can trust these days (dislaimer: I mean whoever provided that info, guide or not, not you).

Was it the WE guides who said that?

Caught up with the sunrise stream, this is the mother of the Feb/March 2021 cubs.

So it looks like the recent mothers are not the mothers of any of the sub adults. They are both younger females.... the one with the three cubs is a middle-aged lioness.

I think the white gene is only carried by the oldest lioness.

Also, this is such a long shot so it’s probably never going to happen....but since the white gene exists with the Birmingham Pride and also the Avoca (giraffe pride) family tree, it is possible that the cubs born to the Northern Avocas and the Birmingham Pride granddaughters from the Nkuhuma Pride could produce a white cub. It’s such a slim chance but there is that very distant change it could.

There was certainly enough to connect the dots (no pun intended) that the mother of 3 cubs is one of the biggest, oldest, carrying white gene and is actually White Dot and her daughter is mother of the 2 yearlings and her sister is denning. Nobody even challenged any of that that here in thread till now. Some of that was definitely said live, as far back as we started to see the 3 cubs litter. Not sure about White Dot named being used, they seems to avoid any names on WE from Ngala, but can't rule it out.

I for sure heard recently on WE that Nkuhuma and Talamati prides are not related and Talamatis came all the way from the place named Talamati in Kruger and that is why they are called that. Yes, really, somebody directly asked, the question got through and that was the answer. Evidently the knowledge of the actual animals on particular property differs greatly.

Yeah I saw that Talamati question, answered by Andrew right? lol

So white dot is definitely not the mother of the December 2020 or February 2021 cubs since we know she's in Manyeleti
Her sister might possibly be? The guide said she's in Manyeleti too but we can't verify that. The mother of the Feb 2021 cubs still has some pink on her nose, presumably a 14 year old lioness has a fully black nose?
White dots daughter is ruled out, since like you said she's the mother of the April 2020 cubs.

Is white dots sister the mother of any of the sub-adults?

And then there's two more adult lionesses.

Who are these then btw? This should be after the split, so perhaps they met together, before the white lions groups wondered off off Ngala for good (ie till now). But then what is this scuffle about?! Ngala is confusing :)

As for the triplet and who is their mother, it seems we have seen them for the first time Sunset 24 January 2021 live show marker 1:06:28 and then there wa a lot of footage of them on the bank of flowing Timbavati next to den with some other lions of the pride present and there for sure was said who is whose sister etc. - Sunrise 6 February 2021. At this point I wa already treating it like White Dot is their mother, if it was not said directly then it was something implicating like she is mother of white lions, the old lioness and White Dot being called the old leading lioness the other or something. I admit I can't tell Birminghams from each other at all, if some of you do, those scenes on the bank would be the best bet I guess.
