Lions of Timbavati

This is an unlikely scenario but a large coalition could pop out of nowhere and sweep out all the males in the area… this is not likely but it will give lots of stability to Timbavati, allowing lion population to increase

For a lion in top condition, with lots of experience and knowing it has back up the instinct would tell it to fight. But if it knows odds are against it, the instinct to flee would have the overhand.

Instinct also relies a lot on learned behaviour. Like knowledge of the environment and opponents or fighting tricks it picked up from previous fights. Its why we would resort to using a gun on instinct rather than clawing and biting when suddenly thrown in a fight.

Yeah, the stakes are too high in a fight, one errant bite and it could be the end of the line for a lion in its prime even if its the biggest lion with the darkest and fullest mane. I suppose knowing that balance ultimately determines success: take calculated risks and make sure you sire the next generation, not the score card of who chased whom. If a lion is terrible at assessing that risk they will be removed from the gene pool very quickly.

Probably not

Such a coalition would take up a lot of food and have a lot of pend up agression due to intercoalition conflicts. Typically young cubs and lionesses are the victims of that anger.

The coalition also wont stick around but rather hop over to the next prode once mating stops. Leaving any new cubs they sired defenseless.

Its not really always the case, N’was have 4 lionesses that have cubs are they are (for now) happy with what they have. Maybe the y are just waiting for the daughters to become adults rather then trying to take over new prides

Hercules was born in late 2014 or even early 2015. Sumatra male is around 10 more or less

Ross males were closing up to 7 years old by that time. They were already dominant for years. In fact Ross males were at their peak at that time and stronger than they are now. Saying defeating strong duo in their prime like Ross males in clash with equal numbers, not being in prime themselfs means nothink is doesn't make sense at all.

(11-04-2021, 02:03 AM)Tr1x24 Wrote: You are praising Mbiris, but dont mention Ross males fighting Trilogy males and Avoca/Giraffes.
It is not like I consider Ross males as weak duo. Not at all and I am aware of victorys Ross males had through their life.

(11-04-2021, 02:03 AM)Tr1x24 Wrote: Greatest lion duo? Its your opinion
Of course in my opinion. There is no way to know for sure how they would match with other strong duos like for example Charlestons so such ratings can not be other than subjective. Mbiris chassed prime Ross males and prime Mopozas (which both seem to be strong duos themselfs) while not being even 4 years old. There also chassed around prime H7 males and beaten and ousted prime Hercules/Sumatra duo (Sumatra not quite in his prime anymore, but not old either). They also had some other clashes with other males, probably victorious one in early 2018 when they were taking over Myambula pride and then in January 2019. They suffered defeat from Nharhu males when competing for River pride tho that because they split apart  and Shaka was cough alone. There was also other clash with Nharhus at Kings Camp tho I talked it through in previous post. Even through they are just 8 years old now, their reign is already long and they ruled 3 prides so far so their achivments are already impressive.  All in all I believe then already have resume better than any other duo we have seen. They are big, strong, has fighting spirit and teamwork. They deserve to be considered number #1 more than any other duo.

(11-04-2021, 02:03 AM)Tr1x24 Wrote: but they are only 8 yrs old and its unknown what future holds, its way too early for claiming that
Their achivments are already big enough to be put as number one.

The think with such coalitions is that we do not know how hard theri rign was, what coalitions they have fought, what was the outcomes of such fights. Bassicly we have little knownlage about them, too little to properly judge them.

(11-04-2021, 02:03 AM)Tr1x24 Wrote: You are too subjective
I do not think I am. I do not say Mbiris are number one because I like them, but because how they have performed in competitions with other male coalitions.

(11-04-2021, 02:03 AM)Tr1x24 Wrote: all notice that you dont like Bboys and on Birmingham boys
I do not dislike BBoys and I do not get why you are even bringing their topic here. Also I do not care if some believe I hate Birminghams.

(11-04-2021, 02:03 AM)Tr1x24 Wrote: thread you will try to diminish all of their achivements, for example if 2 Mbiris would chase 4 Nwaswitshakas or kill OM you would be singing songs about them..
I already have talked a lot why I do not value a lot chassing N'was. Also defeating single male is hardly achievement for a duo and no, if Mbiris being in their primes or close to it would deaftet/kill/chasse  single male I definitelly wouldn't even mention that among their achievements and definitelly wouldn't make song of it.

Skorro's might have trouble sooner then they expected, only 3 Vuyelas are seen occasionaly in Timbavati, i guess other 2 are staying with prides in Klaserie.

To be honest, If I had to mention one of the most successful duo of the Timbavati in the last years (In my humble opinion). I'll go with the old River pride males. They started their reign in 2013/14 increasing the numbers of the River and Dundee prides up to 30 at one point and the majority of his offspring is alive until today. And still are holding a big territory and 2 prides under their control (As far I'm aware, However, A friend from Klaserie told me that probably they have a third one on Lundt property) the first one it's the Jacaranda pride of  5 females and three sub-adults males and another pride of 20 strong members in the Western-corner of Klaserie. So, the old River pride males are in the 7th or 8th year as dominant males in the region. Of which, makes to these two males being in the top of succesful duos by far of any other

Three of the Vuyela males on a purpose in the Timbavati Game Reserve. They've turned into beast. One of the males is a monster, tall and bulky and with a good mane.

There are 5 seen in the region. I do not think they will be a problem for Skorros. They might be for Sumatra/Hercules.
