Would say that K4 wants to become a pride males for a long time its just his brother had hold him back as to not have his back when other males have push around and that is why in their past sightings we have seen K4 clearly showing dominance when he did mate and starting to roar when he was with Chela even though he is alone and when he was attacked presumably by the Mantimahle Sons he is alone trying to mate and start his pride male life but now that he have been injured it seems like he is just a shell of his former self.

Someone really needs to step up in the coalition to lead maybe K3 or K6 as the 2 of them seems to show more of a dominant trait 2nd only to K4 before his injuries cannot really tell for K5 as he is doing K5 things.
If no one would step up it would only be the Torchwood Male, K1, and K2 that would have cubs from the Birmingham Males sons (well if they raise the cubs up to adult and leave a legacy) Really a shame on what can be compared as to what their fathers have had done at that age but well they are wild lions and we cannot do anything and just watch them do as they go follow their own instincts.

This is their father/uncle still not in their prime (basing on the mane and body size) VS a 1 Selati Male you can see how aggressive Scrapper was and how Nsuku supported him.

I do not recall having seen that video before. Excellent find. Those Birminghams sure were tough and scrappy males. Nhenha would even give Tinyo a smacking every now and then, and it continued with Nkuhuma, though, apparently not as severely as I once had thought.

Really? do we know where is she located?

Would be near or somewhat near of Phabeni per the photographer post.
Also the 2 lioness is being said to be from the N'waswitshaka Pride (daughter of Big Boy Charleston). Do not know the reasoning for the lioness to be concluded as daughter of Big Boy Charleston from N'waswitshaka Pride as I am no expert in the lions down South.

Yeah that’s right, Charleston Males took over N’waswitshaka Pride once their reign in Sabi Sands ended and they moved permanently into Kruger. My memory may be slightly hazy here but I believe Big Boy was ousted when the Biyamiti Males arrived on the scene and took over the pride, which they still rule to this day.

Big Boy was ousted around late 2020 by 3 Mpondos, 2 of which disappeared at that time aswell, leaving only Snip Tail Mpondo in charge of N'ws (or part of N'ws, as Big Boys offspring from 2020 survived as we see). Then Snip Tail was ousted by Biyamitis later in 2021.

Not sure if Biyamitis are still in charge of N'ws, as they expanded in 2023 a bit north into Renosterkoppies territory around S1.

But not sure if those are N'ws lionesses, Kambulas are much further west from this area, around Shitlave Dam/Pretoriuskop, based of latest reports.

@Tr1x24 thank you for clarifying, I’d forgot Mpondos were initially responsible for ousting Big Boy, then Biyamitis came along after.

Only come across this thread recently otherwise I would’ve posted more in here than the Sabi Sands thread, wouldn’t be surprised if others didn’t know of this threads existence either.

Anyways, such a shame for K4, ever since that beating it’s been nothing but bad luck for him. Was always my favourite Kambula boy, and will continue to be.

That really sucks for him. I too feel for him, he was the only one trying to become territorial/dominant, for the longest time, and his brothers' lack of interest in those pursuits cost him dearly.

IIRC same eye as his likely grandfather he resmebles, the Dark Mane Majingilane who also went blind.

I hope some of their potential cubs in the Imbali and Nkuhuma pride can survive by being accepted by other males, otherwise they may not end up with a legacy thenselves despite reaching their primes as 4 healthy males.

They are only 6 years old, its far too early to say that they will leave no legacy behind.

Life has really been very harsh on him lately, a true shame... He was the strongest and the one that showed the most interested in becoming dominant, if they were slow in their approach before with K4 carrying, imagine now that he is weakened. It seems that the weakness of the Kambula brothers took a toll on their strongest and most determined member.

If you showed me a picture of K4 now vs a year ago, I would think they were different lions.

You could see in the footage and photos from a few weeks ago that something was wrong with his eye, wonder what happened to it.

Like you @KM600 he was always my favourite Kambula, even more so now, and I still hold out hope that he bounces back to more of his former self. Hopefully things turn around for him.

I see swelling around that eye in this video, wasn't he bitten on the face during one of the attacks on him? If so, was it on that side of his face?

Ye he was, but it was under his eye, no direct contact to his eye itself but maybe it caught his eyelid. Even then, I don’t think it would’ve taken 3 whole months for his eye to start changing leading me to believe it could be more recent.

Looks like he’s losing some mane aswell, especially on top of his head.

His once incredible mane is now becoming average, but with some peace, and stability, we know that it can return just as quickly. I know I have read on here, I believe it was mentioned in regards to one of the Biyamatis, that a parasite that burrows into the eye is what caused his eye to end up like that. In their case, though, his eye, itself, appears swollen, protruding outwards a fair bit, different from other lions like Silver Eye.
