It’s not often we get to spend time with this male largely due to a significant leg injury that has seen him rather nervous around vehicles at times and inferior to other younger as well as more experienced males within the reserve.
Nevertheless, it is great to see him back in Thornybush after spending quite some time in Timbavati with his late brother whom I have been led to believe was unfortunately taken by a buffalo.
I am eager to see what unfolds in the coming months with this male and the influx of younger males into the central as well as northern sections of the reserve.

How old is he??
Is he the same male lion who after his brother death once was in coalition with xikukutsu males ( younger brother of S. and N. Acocas), who later on leaves him and governed black dam pride.

"A male #lion I saw a few weeks ago on a #wildlife photographic #safari that I could not identify and have not seen before. He was accompanied by one of the 3 Thornybush Male #lions.
Now I wonder if guide miss ID the other male as Thornybush male and there are in fact both missing Black Dams around again or somethink happened to the other male and he is no more or got separated and he is on his own. Anyway the one pictured is quite close to the group of 4 Black Dams so passibly soon there will be reunion into group of 5 or 6.

You actually messed quite few thinks there. The male you are talking about there is Mapoza male - he partnered up with Xikukutsus after death of his brother and later on took over Black Dam and Monwana prides. He is spending time with Monwana pride (not Black Dam) while Xikukutsus are hanging out further south with Black Dam pride. The male on the photo is a Monwana male - male born into Monwana pride and sired by Black Dam male.

The boy by the way got quite a few new scars recently. Just a few months ago while he was roaming Timbavati he had face rather clean of scars.

The second of the 2 Blackdam Male #lions seen a couple of weeks ago here at @royalmalewane in South Africa, on a #wildlife photographic #safari The last two are spending time in the area that their 4 brothers are roaming around in, and it could be a matter of days before all 6 are hopefully reunited to form an almost unstoppable #lion coalition.

Will the Mapogo story repeat it self? I feel like it is going that way... Vuelas seem to be the only coalition around that could match those Black Dams in numbers, but aside of them all other coalitions around looks like easy pickings for such a huge force.

Other then Vuyelas the Birmingham breakaways can also be a threat
