Lack of confidence probably. They may have gotten in (Non Violent) confrontations with Nym and Sym and the Mhangeni pride and have backed out for a bit. .

After demise of OM, PC and Styx/NK are most often seen it that "free" area..
Talamatis + DM on WE this afternoon, they had just crossed over from the Manyeleti
I think it was 10 members + DM
I see all 3 males, "Stompie" Sub-adult, Silver eye, and the female with the missing ear tip. Seemed maybe the older lionesses were missing

No one was unaccounted for. The Selati daughter was the one running after the hyena. Another older lioness was lost and looking for the pride... she’ll find them soon I’m sure. The last female is denning, and her adult daughter is keeping her company. This is just how larger prides operate. They won’t be all on top of each other 24/7.
The Southern Pride lioness and her cubs were seen with a waterbuck kill and then moved around with full stomachs, exploring their surroundings. Also, Gore has been seen spending most of his time with them lately.

I just found out the answer and, yes that this was the carcass of Othawa subadults. The N'was males stole it from them. That means they are aware of their presence.
The latest news is that the 3 N'was males were seen today again sniffing around Umkumbe area, trying to pick the scent of other lions (presumably the Othawa subadults) that had passed the area. I don't know where the Othawa subadults are currently at. Despite that, like you, I hope they go back to the western sector for their safety.
Just received a message from the ranger, the Othawa subadults were seen not far from the Southern Pride. That probably explains why Gore spends his time with them as a protection, while the other 3 were seen trying to pick the scent of other lions (presumably the Othawa subadults).

For clarification, how far is Umkumbe from SP in Sabi Sabi?
The subadults probably passed Umkumbe previously..
