There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

Lionesses usually have large skulls in relation to their bodies, but the lion's head dwarfs hers at 0:12 and he's huge compared to her. His name is Bala and has two castrated brothers Ace and Flint at the near end of the video. Taken at Woburn Safari Park, UK. The same safari park where Aslan's father and uncle came from and those males were also very large.

Safari park lions of UK are mixed. They are a mix of a collection from south Africa and east African and with some other generic lions .

Are lions like Ali the white lion, Hanito, Ilanga and others from the Black Jaguar White Tiger Foundation also mixed-breeds?

Don't know about them. If it's a private zoo or rescue center, chances are very highly likely that they are generic unless some are directly imported from south African safari parks which are mostly south African. Private zoos in north America are generic. Only zoos in north America which have close to Pure but taxonomically still is Panthera leo melanochaita are AZA accredited facilities and zoos which participate in African lion SSP. The first lions are from Kruger (south africa), Etosha (Namibia), Moremi reserve, Kalahari region (Botswana), Kgalagadi whose major portion is in Botswana, Zimbabwe and remaining lions are of unknown origins but certainly from southern population. In Europe, only pure lions are Indian lions and Etosha lions of Basel zoo and their offspring (Etosha lions) went to US (Jacksonville zoo, St Louise zoo)  and zoos in Europe (Givskud(Denmark), Leipzig(Germany) and Zlin Lesna, (Czech Republic.)) The last offsprings still reside at Basel. In Australasia, only pure lions I know is from Kgalagadi and Kruger. In Asia, pure Indians are there and generic also present. Africa has both pure populations as well as generic. south America is generic.

Captive Kgalagadi male from Denver zoo, USA. Kgalagadi males are well known for black manes, long legs, distinct facial features and are paler in pelt.
