There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

poor fella passed away on 2012 at 14.

Is Zamba a real Barbary lion? She said he is a Barbary lion but I'm not sure.

Highly unlikely, possibly a zoomix/generic lion. But there may be a possibility that he may have some barbary / asiatic blood, not because of the mane (even lions in cold climate can grow huge manes and people instantly think having a huge mane extending up to their belly is a barbary lion and these traits were based on old descriptions of barbary lions.), but there were barbary lions and Asiatic lions (later got mixed with African lions) in the US in the past and Zamba may had a barbary or an asiatic great grandfather. Even the face, mane, body structure of an afro asiatic hybrid looks like an African lion. It's very hard to distinguish between an African lion and an Afro Asiatic mix. They look very alike.
