There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

Betty, why do you only post pictures of these deplorable Chinese circuses and zoos? As an animal lover is angers and sickens me to see this stuff posted here because we all know what kind of conditions and lives these poor cats are forced to live in. This is animal abuse, pure and simple.

@sanjay :Yes, when the tiger gets closer, the lion systematically is interposed between him and the lioness.

Otherwise, the tiger is fat, the lion is fat too, but not the lioness, rather slim...

Yes, it very much sums up behavioral differences between the two species.
Lions tend to be very protective of their females and you can see that here. The lion becomes very uneasy when the Tiger approaches where as the Tiger doesn't seem to care much about being protective of the female but he also takes an aggressive, challenging posture by puffing his neck and arching his spine.
One cares more about keeping what is his and the other seems to be anticipating an opening.
Great video, I agree.

Great video, I agree.

And I randomly found this video of them two getting into a quick scuffle.
