Ookhan was last camera trapped in Brahmapuri forest division in 2017. i haven’t heard about him since. he could still be around there. we know little to nothing about the tigers in Brahmapuri forest division. also, a lot of the missing tigers from Tadoba and Umred reside there.

Massive fire in Bandhavgarh is finally in control after 5 days. Khitauli is the most affected zone. Here are siblings Darraha Bacchi and Bajrang from Khitauli today.

@Rage2277, 13 year old female. Not dead directly because of the fire. Died in a territorial battle as had marks on her face and neck. Most likely, the fire pushed another tiger into her territory, and she succumbed to someone bigger and younger.

This is Patlinbai female with 2 cubs about 9-10 months old fathered by Dadiyal male in Sirkada buffer:

This is 3 year old Bhima, son of Patlibai and Dadiyal male from her previous litter:

Here they are together at a lake: Mother, 2 cubs from present litter and son from older litter:

This phenomenon of a male cub staying behind to help his mother raise a litter has been observed from 4 other reserves. So, the question then is, has this always been happening or is it something that tigers have evolved recently?

It seems like a bargain trade off. The male tiger can safely build himself by the time he leaves for good, while the female has a guaranteed baby-sitter which means she can go along and hunt and mark her territory with no concern about returning to the cubs.

@Pckts, Mamu is looking tired, agreed. But, why? He doesn’t have a massive territory to defend and look after. He has barely clashed with any other males, in fact, he kind of let the other males push him around more than once. He is around 8, pushing 9. With Bheem and Mr.X gone (I have heard they released him, not sure), this should be his yard and his time.

I'm not sure either, I don't know the Bandhavgarh zones very well but there certainly is no shortage of up and comers as well as Mamu always being said to be one to avoid conflict before fighting.
