There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

#1068: a 13 year-old-lion really ? Unbelievable... Unless this lion is very clever to avoid bloody skirmishes.

Yeah I think so, they arrived in Manyeleti in July 2011 estimated to be aged 5-6, thus born 05/06, that would make them 12/13 now. I think HB fought many fights, but like in the footage with Nsuku, his size gave even aggressive lions pause, because he is/was a truly giant lion. @Herekitty :

About #1070: that being said, when we see his fangs on the second photo you show: all broken and no more light yellow... Clearly, it's an old lion.

But that don't prevent to think he knew perfectly how to manage his own affairs, being helped by his big size.

No zoo can ever compare to seeing the raw, rugged, real life of a lion in its natural habitat. We saw this pride early in the morning before sunrise (hence a lower quality photo). The power in his eyes even with battle scars new & old - well, that’s a life lesson in photo form. Image by Katie Zahara Soovajian at Idube, November 8, 2018
