The Matimba coalition

The comeback speaks for itself. Never seen a clutch coalition like them before.... sad for the Northern Matimbas. If they had stayed with southern matimbas would have lived longer...

Ginger and Hairy Belly are smart. Their smartness, alertness and endurance is second to non.

The remaining Northern Matimbas last sighting together at Ngala. After this the slit Nosed Male disappeared and his tracks were followed by a coalition of Males suspected as Avocas and Skybeds.

You are right if they stayed together they probably could’ve maintain probably not all but most of their territory.

It was impossible for Matimbas to stay togethee because once their territory grew they went away further and further...

Majingilane and Mapogos were lucky because they couldn’t go any further away as the West sabisands is fenced/closed and the Males always stayed on the vacanity of each other...

I disagree with that. I don't think the southern Matimbas were any smarter, more alert, or anything of that nature compared to their northern brothers. The northern brothers were in a tougher area and probably faced much tougher competition. The southern brothers being only two-strong avoided conflict with others, the northern brothers were more willing to physically fight with other coalitions because of simply themselves being a bigger coalition.

Southern Matimbas had more battles in 3 years than Northern Matimbas. Try to remind them... In last year, they were injured badly twice in fights and nearly died... First from a unknown coalition in the north... Matimbas came to sabisabi and got meal survived. 2nd was against Avocas...
Matimbas get no paise.
Ginger Matimba went missing for 14 days and came back with head, spine still bleeding... Matimbas are smart and survivors. What was the last Male in sabisands to come back alive like this. And after two days they went to west and raored in Majingilane territory. A fight happened next day.

Considering there's so little info on them, there's no way you can know that. In any case, the southern boys got more press, that's it.

You can have your pick of lions that did that in the last years, males that live alone or in pairs tend to be in that situation more than males on bigger coalitions, and in this case the Matimbas have been one of those.
Not the only ones.
By the way, try to put your thoughts in one post, instead of in 3 smaller ones, it's faster and easier to read.

Northern Matimba, Ngala Roan du Plessis

Northern Matimbas actually grew more impressive over time which is a clear indication that they were in good health, didn’t have mucg stress and troubel until 2017.

One of the Matimba males lying next to a impala kill which we believe was stollen from a young male leopard who was around in the area.

The Matimba male lions have been going full out roaring- what an amzing way to start a cold morning.

They are looking stronger and have been spending time with both the Othawa pride and the Mhangene pride. We had Hairy Belly on a warthog kill a few days back. He had chased the Mhangene lionesses off of the kill and continued to feed.
We saw his brother tonight mating with an unknown female at this point. Perhaps she could be in false oestrus to lure the male away in order for her to protect the last remaining genes of the Majingies.

Click on it to play.

Incredible just a 1 month ago we felt like it was the end for this powerful coalition and then all of a sudden they’re back. Claiming territory and having not 1 but possibly 2 prides and having the opportunity to spread there bloodline. The Matimbas are are true vet and their clutch.

At the end Matimbas will be not only be remembered as a great coalition but also they will be remembered for their courage, endurance and fighting spirit. They just never give up....

Right now they are going head to head with Birmingham’s roaring in the territory Birmingham’s patrol and interacting with the pride Birmingham’s interact. They are looking for a fight this time around and its written.

While the Birmingham's are on the other part of the map.

No, they are looking to establish themselves on that particular territory where the Birmingham males haven't reached yet.

That's very diferent from "looking for a fight".
