Khanya Talamati today was foud showing dominance over the larger Southern BD Male.

a very peculiar turn of events for both....the Once confident two BDYMs have run into some hard times.

I would not mind if this leads to all of them joining forces.

I will link to the video once I can get to a computer.

Could you imagine Khanya, BDM's young Nkhuma and Mohawk as a team?  LOL  This would push the Kambula's out of Sabi though I'd have to think.

Hope u don’t mind I already sent it in Lions of Sabi Sands thread. I know a lot of ppl are sad about this interaction but I agree it could turn into something good - people are also forgetting Khanya is a very big male who can hold his own by himself.

Dominance can be temporary.  I noticed it can change among coalition partners quite often.  The SBDM have regressed somewhat due to lingering injuries.  They actually had too much overconfidence in the past that turned out to backfire on them.  I'm surprised the smaller one is still a viable coalition partner, actually.  He looks ragged nowadays.  At one point, I thought at least one of them would end up like the Guernsey Male....who clearly bit off more than he could chew.

The less dominant (by far) S. Avoca is a survivor.

My point is that being submissive isn't something bad or horrible in the world of lions.

Plus, this could lead to the healthier male possibly having options should his bro not make it...or vice versa. Maybe Khanya could even join the both of them?

I agree with all that you’ve said, think ppl are just finding it hard to see how the BDMs have regressed both physically and mentally. Speaking about his bro, the injured one, it seems they’re separating quite a bit nowadays. Too slow to keep up most likely but hopefully he can overcome it.

Crazy how times change. Just a few months ago this 2021 Nkuhuma male was nearly killed / seriously injured by Khanya and Dzwihala. Now in present time, it seems Khanya may be a key figure in helping this male survive to independence. Very proud of both of them.

Come across these old screenshots in my phone, thought instead of them just wasting away, I’d send them in here. This was one of, if not the very last sighting of both brothers together on film, dated back to 15/16th December. These boys were known to follow the buffalo to all areas of Sabi Sands, truly great hunters. In this instance, they had been feeding in Western Sabi Sands, an area they were extremely familiar with since going nomadic despite the presence of the two PCMs. They were looking to be a promising coalition but sadly their time together seems to have been cut short with Dzwihalas disappearance.

So much promise, in this young coalition. The missing brother was already really impressive, with Khanya beginning to catch up to his size now, one can only imagine what his brother would look like today.
