Talamati/Msutlu Pride

Hello! Just saw a video on YouTube from PK Safaris about a lone young male lion. The comments seem to think it’s most likely the last S8 son from talamati pride. I took screenshots, how do I post pictures?
I’d like to have others confirm it’s him but the age and eyes match. He has a bad back spinal injury that has been healing and he has been successful in finding/hunting food as he was in pretty good condition with a big belly.
IF it’s him I think he has an excellent chance of making it just like wonkey eye. He was pretty far away so I’m not sure if he could ever find his way back to sabi sands.

Note this is repeated post, I posted in sabi sands thread but there’s people arguing and taking over the thread…I wanted to make sure my post got a reply.

Did you get it to work? You could also just post the YT video, if you don't know how to do that, instructions are also in the tutorials section I linked earlier. However, if you want to speed up this process, just post the link to the YT video, simply copy and paste, and I will fix it for you.

Thank you for your help! I appreciate you for sure!

I’m gonna play around on the desk top later…I should be able to post easier vs from my phone.

The comparison picture I had of S8 son was just a screen shot from a video on the talamati thread…I’m sure people will have better pictures.

There you go. Now, we'll see if anyone can ID this male as the Talamati Male/S8 son.

@GhostCatP-22

Doubt its him, thats too far for sub male to wander off at his age, he would stay around or near his natal area.

Based of location, i think this might be one of Plains Camp sub males, sons of S.Avocas, they where only ~1 year of age when Nkhulu takeover, so now around 2, if any survived.

I’m not so sure it is, and in no way am I saying that with certainty. Ppl will find a clear enough photo to compare whisker patterns which I’ve personally never done, I just remember certain faces.

With the Talamati YM tho, from the very little mane he had, it was always extremely blonde which made it even harder to see. That could be mud in the above lions mane but there’s darkness on both sides which leads me to believe it’s not solely mud / or just dampness. I don’t think his mane could darken that much in just over a month while he’s been on his own, nor does it make sense for him to be on the S83, which I believe is near the current Nkuhuma boys. Would love to be proved wrong tho, for both his and S8’s sake.

I agree, while I am far from an expert in identifying lions, I do not think it is him either. Compare the video below (with the S8 son) to the young male above. S8 son was indeed very blonde but at the same time his face was more mature than the young male that is alone in the video.

Poor young boy by the way.. must have been through a lot with those back injuries. He seems very young. And he is smelling everywhere, probably looking for his pride.

Whoever the young male is, in the video @GhostCatP-22 posted, he has absolutely been through it, appears lucky to be alive.

As for the Talamati Male, such a shame, how quickly things collapsed following S8's demise. He did a really good job looking after them, you always saw him moving, all over the place, trying to keep his territory clear of other lions, and his pride safe.

Read that all 4 Msutlu lionesses have cubs now. Believe the cub count is currently at 11. Even though they were given a different name, the Talamati bloodline continues on.
