There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

This girl came to estrus, while her sisters didnt, so she is attracting and searching for males to mate with.

This is my worry with the Othawa girls... It's going to be happening soon you'd think, and they may cross territories that they shouldn't to find their man!

Now we're down to 5!  So, fewer than half of the Styx Subs are officially alive.  5/11.  I was hoping it would remain at 6, but I guess if they keep going into estrous at separate times, more deaths are going to happen.  This is risky and several Styx females have been doing this.  The Majing. daughter and now a sub has paid the ultimate price.  The other older Bham daughter is engaging in this behavior, too, going off on long stretches, potentially in heat and always losing her cubs (she was pregnant at least twice as far as I know).  She has been lucky so far, at acting like a lone lioness, mating with the Gijimas, but not bearing fruit from these encounters after many, many months.

There's a reason why it's good when the females go into heat simultaneously.  Otherwise, they are acting like lone lionesses, and have no better odds.

Anybody know which female has been killed?  My thought is that it's either the 2nd one in the top or lower row....BUT could be the left lower....

Yes, but there have been videos where young Styxt lionesses have been two or three.

Despite this unfortunate loss, Styx's are still in good position with pot 5 adult females soon.

I guess this 1 year span will be key, can they become territorial pride in this area.

Problem is, idk if 3 territorial prides can live in this small area, weakest will prob be outmuscled, and if Styx's sustain these numbers, Southern Pride might be in problem again.

They are just turning 3.5 I believe.  The one younger than the others is around 3.

Yes, but in the one year the Styxt lioness mature the Southern lionesses also has two young cubs right now. In that one year they would be growing and her cubs are older. This just sounds bad. Ever since the Talamatie lionesses came. Hopefully the Styxt lionesses can grow strong. Maybe they could go to the north. In the South that means 3 prides will increase the times they see each other.

She looks more like the Rollercoaster female....and Gore, possibly.  I'd say him or Ahmale.  So sad.  I believe survival is just as much about luck as it is about savviness
