I forgot and I'm not sure which, but either the Sri Lankan or Persian subspecies are the largest of leopards. Can anyone clarify which is the largest of the two? Reply

As per my info, On paper Persian leopard are the largest, But some resources claim that Srilankan leopards are one of largest. Reply

I have read from more than a single source that the Amur leopard is the biggest of leopards. I would conclude that leopard size has but minimal variation per subspecies. Reply

There is a Namibian record male over 90 kg, which is the biggest if we look away from the 115 kg persian male. Also imo the most impressive male leopards I've seen and which one I would bet on being the biggest are South African male leopards! Look up the Campan and Anderson males, but Sri Lankan leopards are impressive too.. Reply

I would lean towards Sri lankan leopards being the largest, they are the apex predator there and thus can eat whatever they like undisturbed.
I'm not sure about their weights but looking at their images, they seem like they are larger framed than any other leopards I see. Reply

There isn't a recent study of the population (measurements, weight, ecc) about the Sri Lankan leopards for comparison, and it's difficult "proclaim a winner", but there are many reports of Persian leopard hunted in Anatolia and Caucasus, which weight is 100 Kg and over.

I think that the Persian leopard is the largest, followed by the Sri Lankan leopard that is really impressive, and the African leopard also a big subspecies. Reply

Before, I used to think the Persian subspecies was the largest on average (it's confirmed), and I agree with Ngala and Sanjay about this. Reply

I think that 100kg missing paw persian leopard is a bit shady, it (as was said on the thread) doesn't look in great condition, or atleast good enough to be a record breaker Reply
