There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

M.Farhidinia et al. published a comparative study of different leopard populations from around the world and concluded that Persian leopards are likely to be the largest in the world, they too no longer have lions nor tigers to compete with and have a good number of large and medium sized ungulates to exploit...note how leopards from both populations do not tree their kills but even the largest leopards in Africa and India do in areas where tigers, lions, or spotted hyenas abound.
And you are absolutely right there is little fluctuation with P.p.kotiya with most males in the 50's and 60's kg with the largest being 77 kg...African leopards can near 100 kg but some dwarf leopards hardly reach 30 kg.

"Srilankan Male Leopard(Panthera pardus kotiya)
Yala National Park, Srilanka
July 2013
They prefer hunting at night, but are also active during dawn and dusk, and daytime hours. They rarely haul their kills into trees, which is because they lack competition and the relative abundance of prey. Since leopards are the apex predators in Srilanka they don't need to protect their prey unlike in India"
