There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

In this thread, we want to make clear what could be the reason of banning a member and what is the process. In general the first and foremost rule for anyone is to talk in mature and gentle way, even you disagree. You are free to oppose the views of other if you disagree on certain matters. But while opposing and writing your response, you should be very careful while selecting your words. Do not insult, do not sound arrogant, do not use offensive words, do not use words that may hurts sentiment of others. If it is debatable topic and have no scientific evidence then add words like, "In my opinion", "I am not sure though" etc.
Also, while talking with Moderators please be polite and gentle, show some respect (For being a senior member of WildFact forum). It is not mandatory you agree with moderators or owner but while replying to mods please use manner (As you talk with you senior in offices, schools and home). Use words like "I request", "Please consider", "I have different opinion with all respect to you..." So in short do not use words that make your sentence tough and arrogant.

Also, Many of you (Including me) have problem with English, and due to this, sometime people either misunderstood response of other members (and hence respond differently than expected) or they write in a way which sounds entirely different to those who read it. So, before responding or writing please read or rephrase your sentence correctly.
For rest of the rules, see following rules-

Rules of Information section

As of 16-Nov-2016 and onward, We have adopted the following procedure for banning the members, found guilty of breaking the rules of forum

Procedure of banning a member

STEP 1. You will replied instantly below your post in question by one of the moderator of the forum with a soft warning.

STEP 2. If you continue to break the rules and avoid the soft warning given in STEP 1 above, you will get an official warning by the system which will be visible on your profile page to all members and visitors of the forum (It is also your final chance given to stay here)

STEP 3. If you decided to go against the forum and completely avoid the warning given in STEP 2, then you will be banned permanently (In some cases temporary).

Hope this clear you doubt, I also expect that the banning will be not needed. As a member of forum you will respect the rules and people here. After all, We all here of wildlife .

Debates are bound to happen. Here at WildFact, we do not have a problem with all debates, but we do have a problem with most debates. By "most debates," we mean those that focus on our members, pseudoscience, and trivial matters that flare tempers, and also those which have parties with all minds, ears, and eyes closed and mouths wide open. Debates can be done constructively, to the point where we could call a debate a collaborative discussion. These are permitted and welcomed at WildFact. How to get to such collaborative discussions? Stay open minded, bite your tongue, share your research, and biggest of all, respect everyone. Those who can do such have found a wonderful home for their passion for wildlife. Those who cannot will either have to learn these skills in time or accept that this place is not compatible with them. Here at WildFact we seek to unite those few who still remember their natural roots and not divide. Thus, the three step warning to banning procedure is now from this moment on in effect. If any disputes occur, do not bite back and instead, contact a moderator.

I understand your point on respecting mods and owners but for a clear debating table everyone should be treated with the same amount of respect, the utmost at that.

We never said that mods are going to misbehave with members, Is there any valid example on forum where Mods have misbehaved any member without any reason ? If so, I will more than happy to correct it.
Actually respect is a term which not only show you as a personality but also help other to judge you, your family, culture and your entire nation. It should come from innersole, specially when you talk in a public place like this one.

Our aim is to create a healthy and clean environment for debating here, we are not here to run a nazi government, but if you do not mention some rules and guidelines to run a place like this, sooner or later it will be converted into a place full of garbage.

I was not being accusatory and sorry if it came across that way. I'm not trying to say mods abuse power at all, or that this is some sort of dictatorship, all I'm trying to suggest is that no one be put on a pedestal as a healthy debating environment needs the vital element of equality. Otherwise some ideas may be drowned out due to hesitation possibly, whereas with everyone on the same platform gives members and especially newer ones complete perspective of the workings in this forum and therefore once they figure out the level of respect here, they will be able to promote ideas with no nagging voice in the back of their head doubting whether they've been too pushy or not. In short, it will create a more natural and relaxed environment for all.

SVTIGRIS  - " ... All I'm trying to suggest is that no one be put on a pedestal as a healthy debating environment needs the vital element of equality ... "
Agreed. During a debate, the condition is equality (mandatory).

Question 1 - But what when a moderator joins a debate?
Answer - A mod joining a debate will have the same status as anyone else. In other words: he won't be a mod, but a poster/debater.

Question 2 - How solve the moderation problem when the mod responsable for that section joins a debate he's interested in?
Answer - A mod joining a debate is replaced by another, who isn't.

ANNOUNCEMENT

The owners of Wildfact want a quality forum. Most of our members deliver good information. They also play by the book, meaning they respect forum rules and those applying them (moderators). But most is not all.

In the last months, we've experienced a number of problems. Some members do not seem very interested in rules. They also often ignore messages from mods. As the policy to communicate in a respectful way didn't have the intended effect, we decided for a change.

Members unable to deliver the quality we want and those ignoring rules and mods will be banned without further notice. Some of them will receive a pm, but most will not. This means that the character of the forum will change in the near future.

It is a fact that most of those out for trouble are lion posters. For some reason, they often cause problems. Not seldom, it results in a bad climate. The effect is considerable in that potential members will think twice about joining the forum. It also is a fact that topics of interest for many can't be discussed because the owners want to avoid trouble.

One could say that those out for trouble determine what will be discussed and what not, meaning they, and not the owners, are running the business.

The problem was discussed and a decision was reached in that those out for trouble will be removed in the near future. It's not debatable.

We repeat that the situation will not change for members communicating in a respectful way. If anything, it will improve considerably. We also want to underline that we're interested in all animals. This forum is about them and the world they live in. Not us,

Peter and Sanjay.

NEW POLICY ON BANS

Up till now, we have been quite lenient towards those crossing lines. The result was a barrage of problems. Solving them took a lot of time and energy. Energy we want to invest in another way.

We decided to change our policy. As of today, posters ignoring forum rules, mods and a warning (one, not two or three) will be banned. Not for a week or a month, but permanently.

We want our forum to be a good one, no matter what. And a good one it will be,

Peter and Sanjay.
