There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

If the cubs in Maji Ya Fisi Pride disappear again for the nth time then we know what the cause again is.

I'm someone who definitely agrees in the theories that cubs over there may have been lost due to humans themselves, but I think that is also used as an easy excuse for the pride failing to develop youngsters ever since atleast the BRBs controlled them, I can't speak to before that.

Like yesterday, 2 lionesses were having a full standoff with a buffalo herd with all 4 cubs present, and the lionesses didn't back off, nobody ended up guiding the cubs away, they done that themselves, instinctively. A huge risk by the lionesses. I'll send the video below if i can find it again.

In addition, we can't act like their pride males have been around 24/7, while it's true Olobor and Oloshipa chased off any and all intruders on the pride, they didn't stick with them like Lorkulup and Oloimina do with Rongai Pride. Especially towards the end of last year, both Olobor and Oloshipa were too focused on trying to expand, taking Fig Tree area, and then wanting Topi Pride. Realistically, we'll never know why a large amount of their cubs / youngsters seem to perish, but just wanted to make sure we don't always go straight to blaming humans eventhough most of the time it is genuinely right to.

It’s always interesting seeing the ‘unwritten rules’ in lion dynamics. If Orkirikoi was in their territory, he most certainly would have been beaten and probably died with all 3 BRBs presence, but the second he showed enough submission they left him alone. Well, stopped trying stuff with him anyways.

Oloshipa especially is a known killer but even with him and Olobor at times, they have let males go. Anyways, just surprising given the behaviour changes between males when fighting for territory, whether their own or trying to acquire an additional pride, compared to when they just bump into other males, coincidentally. Unlike what atleast some ppl seem to believe, lions don’t have that killer mentality 24/7.

Still mating with the Marsh Pride females, I don’t even think they’re 4 years old and could possibly takeover this great pride.

Rongai youngsters feeding on a giraffe. Adding onto my last post, it’s not looking great for the 7th Topi boy if he stays separated from his brothers and they fully begin their nomadic journey, and it looks like they will with all 3 Salas males applying pressure to oust them. I think the best case solution for him would be attempting to join the Rongai youngsters if he was to come across them, they’re still fairly young and would prolly be more accepting than the Fig Tree boys who are a lil older and already accepted an unknown male.
