@Pckts Yeah, I'm not saying he was completely full since they say he wasn't but it seems clear he had partial stomach content since they also said it.

Instead of what the subtitles claims "he's flat, but not overly gorged", which doesn't make anywhere near as much sense, in fact it seems he even says he is fat because he ate.

Hi, I've also seen the video myself and the subtitles almost do not correspond at all to what is being said, one might think of a language issue but that is not the case. The author of the video, which is called "Graceful leopard" is a famous troll coming from a site we all despise that pretends to be a leopard enthusiast but does a heavy propaganda against them. As it happens, he's obsessed with them being "delicate" and "graceful", obsessed with the fact that every big male is heavy just because he's gorged. Coincidences? But the discussion stops here. Like @peter said, this is WildFact and we don't consider any other heated debates in other forums.

Just wanted to point to everyone here to not take seriously that lying troll also named "Camp Pan" and "Lilith".
He's very misinformed regarding biology as a whole and has a database of his own.

That said, the original video claims Lopez to be "fat but not overly gorged", unlike what the propagandist tried to frane, meaning that even if he had a bit of stomach content it wouldn't matter much regarding the weight taken, could barely take off a few kilos but nothing special. This somehow reminds me of the Terai tiger that was allegedly weighed at 288 kilos but was claim to be "empty or at least very close to" .

And what does any of that have to do with the Jaguars mentioned?

Hello, I am new here but I have a few questions regarding Jaguar weights on your well constructed table. There are a few weights there that may be inaccurate that I want to address. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong

The Lopez Weight by Hoogelstein is the largest weight of Jaguars so far in the 1990s. In the original message sent by Hoogelstein he said In the original Spanish text – “no hay forma de saber si tenia el estomago vacio o lleno, o cuan vacio/lleno” which translates to “there is no way to know if the stomach was empty or full, or how empty/full”

couldn't this mean that the jaguar had some food in him but wasn't empty? wouldn't this mean he definitely ate some food before his capture? Therefore meaning that 148kg is not a reliable figure for the weight of Lopez and not an actual figure that should be added to the table.

Dr Guy Balme, the capture specialist, standing right next to this jaguar just as he had been weighed, states “he’s fat because he’s eaten but he’s not overly gorged, he’s not excessively gorged”.

The YouTube translation is there, so I don't understand why he is being claimed to be flat, and not fat. If you have anything to disprove this I would be open to seeing this, but if he was verbatim stated to be fat, then why in this forum is he claimed to be "flat"?

Also, @Pckts, you stated it yourself that Robusto was full, and thus, his 137kg weight should not be accounted for

*This image is copyright of its original author

Also, another individual (whose name I will not mention) got confirmation from Edu himself about both of these weights being jaguars that were full and thus, unreliable

So there is a verbatim statement that Shaka was in fact full from Edu himself who was there at his capture. I will not address his claim for robusto as he was not there during capture, so I don't care for it. Moving On:

Now as for Matheus, he was not confirmed to be in poor health but rather joyfully reported to have been 118kg and 121kg in his 3rd and second capture. Now I also recall there being a fire around the time of his second or 3rd capture that limited food resources.

So right now I'm wondering, considering that Mattheus was so young when captured, and that 134kg is an outlier compared to his more recent 121 and 118kg, wouldn't it be deduced that it was stomach content that made him up to 134kg? Because at the points he was captured he was still 5 years old with a lot of Growing to do, so him being old or lame wouldn't be an excuse. Personally I believe that the decrease in food resources at the time was what made him lose weight, but I would rather be comfortable with hard evidence against my case. As a reminder, these are questions, not debunks.

As for Joker, he was only stated to be more than 140kg, not significantly higher, so I don't know where the 159kg figure comes from, considering that his chest measurements are pretty normal for an average 140kg Jaguar (not to be confused with 'average' jaguar).

Joker’s chest girth (X) = 128cm
Estimated weight (Y) = – 63.9 + 1.59(1

28cm) = 139.6kg

new news!!!
At the end of last year around Christmas, Jafar was captured and weighed!!!
he weighed 120 kg at just under 3.5 years old!!!!
he is quite healthy and is one of the dominant males in the Pantanal Sul in caiman.

The best bet will be a male that will reach 140 kg at his peak!!!

Being a little more analytical here, he already has the proportions of a 130-140 kg jaguar, but because he is very young, he shouldn't have that much mass to fill his enormous body, in addition to having a skull that appears to be in development.
I can't wait to see what it will look like soon!!!

Hey @Jafar
I think we can talk about a specific individual in any other thread. We don't need a separate thread for one male just.

Generally a big cat will put on an additional 15% of body mass between the ages of 3.5-8  so that estimate of 140kgs for Jafar at his prime is valid. Most likely the weight obtained comes from a cat who was baited so a weight of around 120kg empty at his max puts him in the very large Jag category.

Yes, but you can't forget that Jafar is a dominant male in the region.
dominant males grow significantly more precisely because they have more food available.
the average for a normal male jaguar is 110 kg, but the dominant ones are generally larger and most I saw reach 130 kg or more, with the exception of Marley who at most was 120 kg.
and it was not baited, it was confirmed as empty during capture.

Jafar is already a male with the structure of a jaguar weighing over 130 kg.
However, because he is extremely young, his weight is less than that.
but in addition to being tall, Jafar is a very robust male, not so much when we saw him for the first time, but nowadays it is already quite noticeable, like here:

Hello, I'm new here, a pleasure.

Let's talk about this topic.
well, I mean, there's a great explanation's for this, it's on r/jaguarland.
the post is "Jaguar weights and Measurements compilation:A review."

It's really worth it, I recomend you see it, it's really worth it.

but I will say one thing.

They didn't estimate Joker to be 159 kg, he was 155 kg.
Furthermore, yes, probably 128 cm of chest would be the normal size for a jaguar over 140 kg.
But one thing is a jaguar with a chest measuring 128 cm, but with all other measurements being average.
Another thing is Joker who, in addition to his 128 cm chest, also has a 1.80 m body, which is exceptional for a Jaguar, a neck circumference compared to that of a leopard and several

Jafar is not only notorious for its great weight and size at such a young age, but also for being in a coalition with Scar (possibly his brother)
"Since their arrival to Caiman, males Suki, Hades, and Paschoal have not been seen, and young males Mango and Acerola have been seen less. Jafar and Scar joining forces makes sense to keep control of the highly sought-after territory of Caiman which harbors a huge amount of females and prey, together they can keep other males at bay. We will follow their journey very closely."
