Majingilane Coalition Male Lineage

This gives me hope that Talamatis/Southern Pride males and Othawa males are still alive somewhere, as they had similar path as these Manghenis, going southwest towards Pretoriuskup and then disappeareing.

All this area south of Pretoriuskup and H2-2 road is unknown, we have 0 info which lions live there, and that area is bigger then Sabi Sands in size.

Which othawa males? M/T or jr/matimbas?

If it's M/T; Ive been longing for the reappearance of them since forever but as time passed by ive lost hope. They were 4ish in 2011, now 12yrs later they'll be 16yo. They're probably gone. We will never know the mapogos male lineage unfortunately

@Tr1x24 since Gingerella returned with one brother doesn't that make likely that they saw the other 2 dying? I doubt the male would have abandoned hia brother and cousin to follow his sister.

Also he vanished in the Western Sector ( likely killed ) so at best it'd be just Jr and the other one.

@Robot00 Yeah even if they were sucessful we'd never know, we could meet some of their descendents without realizing it.

Still I don't see how a strict male to male lineage is that important, take this Mangheni male for example, he shares as much DNA with the Mapogos as any son from M & T would. This Mangheni male, the older Kambulas, younger Mangheni pride generation and any young cubs from the 2 elder Manghenis are all Mapogo grandcubs regardless if they come from a female line, it literally makes no difference.

Another example, the 6 Kambula males, they come from 2 generation of female Mapogo descendents, still if there'd be a strict male line from M & T to a coalition nowadays, they would have exact the same genetic relation to Mapogos that Kambula males have.

Male or female, it doesn't matter at all.

Junior and 1 of Matimba sons where seen alone in Kruger, so they split in 2 groups.

Yes.   He disappeared very early in their nomadic period.   After all were seen being chased by the Charleston.   He was not seen again.

So looks like Charleston males are likely the culprits of the death of Mangheni, they really are one of the most ferocious duos Kruger has ever seen

How no one mentioned this? The photographers who sighted the Mangheni male said he was half-dead...

He doesnt look "half-dead" to me.

Maybe she meant in meaning that he was sleeping/not moving/doing anything..

It makes a slight difference.  The Y chromosome is only passed down the male line, and there are some traits you can only get from that genetic lineage, as well as diseases.  Plus, it is said that we get more gene expression from the paternal line, too.  Any sons/daughters from the Mapogos own sons, would have had different gene expressions and inheritances towards them...in general.  Tendency towards certain health issues and fitness levels are passed down and expressed more dominantly via the paternal line.

But overall, it's not a huge difference that would take away from having sons vs. daughters....  The bottom line though, it's not a CLEAR inheritance pattern from grandparents to grandkids of a quarter (25%) for each, regardless of which side.  It's like the roll of the dice, that's why siblings can differ A LOT in appearance, as one takes more from the paternal mother's side, for example, and the other can take more from the paternal father's side..... (and that's just for the father's side...the mother's side can also be very skewed or only a little)

We have no way of knowing what became of the 2 remaining sons of the 6 infamous lions.  People like to talk about how they disappeared "i.e. was poached" with zero evidence to back that up.  Thousands of lions remain anonymous in the KNP, therefore we know about 5% of them if they remain within sighting of lodges/vehicles, etc. at best.  Most of the lions are too wary and shy of human contact, so they would rather just remain out of view and run away after hearing any noise.

@Tr1x24 We can't see most of his body, perhaps he has injuries in his hindlimbs and back, and is skinny.

@Cath2020 difference is too small to matter, basically insignificant.

I think he got ousted from his territory recently, which was prob south of Pretoriuskup and H2-2 road, areas we have 0 info, and he went nomadic and ended around Skukuza, thats why we saw him now after 5 years.

He looks really in bad condition. It’s sad seeing him in this condition. But glad to know he is still alive after a long absence without sightings of him

Damn this is sad, I had hopes to "follow" his last years as a dominant male since he has just turned 10.

Still to know he was probably successful is more than we could have expected after 5 years. I hope he sired many cubs that reached adulthood.
