Both Xikukutsus were recently seen with slight injures to the front of body and Mopoza was seen heavly scared on his face. Competition inside that coalition over mating rights in Monwana pride must be tough.

The #blackdammale in the most amazing late afternoon light a few years ago on a photographic safari at @royalmalewane in South Africa. This male was killed earlier this year, by his own sons, who needed to oust this guy to secure a territory of their own, with access to their own pride of #lions.

To be honest I was been thinking the same. A great portrait of this handsome beast. He died very soon tbh. He was in very good shape and by far one of the biggest lions who ever walked the Timbavati in recent times. I'm glad that he left a lot of legacy through the Monwana and Giraffe prides.

Such a powerful scene watching and listening to a territorial male lion roaring determinedly in the direction of another male. This is the Ross male heading to the eastern boundary in answer to an orpen male calling.

I do not think it really matters if it the end he was finished by Monwana males after being gorged, or died from injury caused by buffalo itself. I wonder if those are indeed Orpen's males calls or maybe older Mbiris or even younger Mbiris with Nharu getting bolder.
